Complete idiots, I suppose if they get into trouble they would expect rescue teams to put their own lives in danger to try and get them out of there. Totally selfish

Got to disagree with you TBH. Not all extreme sports in any way put people in a position of danger. Just the nutters who go down holes in the ground or try to climb mountains/rock faces.

Surely an extreme sport by definition is inherently dangerous? Base jumping, sky diving, cave diving, seriously off piste skiing/snowboarding, hang and paragliding, big wave surfing, ice climbing etc etc, all extreme and all dangerous. Admittedlly, when some of these go wrong there's no need for a rescue team!

This bits quite important IMO, the majority of rescue services are voluntary and tend to be made up of groups of people who are already interested/involved in the activity.
