Default Recommend me a Fridge Freezer

Budget is about £400.

I've no idea about what brands are best or anything, and I don't need anything to dispense orange juice cubes or chilled and perfumed water which seems fashionable at the moment.

Fridges and freezers are much of a muchness, not a lot to them, especially if you don't want any fancy gadgets, personally I would buy separates, small chest freezer and a decent sized fridge, then if one packs up in a few years it doesn't affect the other.

Both mine out here are Zanussi , my choices were based on layout inside, price and energy efficiency rating, both white and nothing fancy about them... less to go wrong imo.

Have a Hotpoint "First Edition" model - pretty original eh?

About 6 ft tall and 50/50 fridge/freezer. Seems fine.

Note the widths can vary +/- 5 cms around 60 cm mark so measure carefully if it's a tight fit.

Doors can be a sod to change hanging side.

No idea why anyone would spend 500 quid on a fridge freezer that looks no different to one for 170 quid, even if it is 'better' and will last 25yrs, who want's a 25yr old fridge... not me that's for sure... new one ish every 10yrs, never had one last for less tbh and at sub 200 quid if it only does 5yrs who cares it's not as if it cost me 500 quid.

Because I can When I moved in the existing freezer was a Liebherr (since ebayed it) and was impressed with the quality even though it was aincient.

Plus I have an open plan kitchen/diner. Did buy a Samsung frost free (about £350) and the compressor made a right racket, the front dented easily and the plastic on the handles started to get stress cracks from daily use. Also had a Bosch for a studio apartment that was far better made than the Samsung but it was also disappointingly noisy.

The Liebherr is pretty much silent. It has a inverter compressor (variable speed ) so it only runs as fast as it needs to meaning it doesn't make as much noise. Plus it uses less electric. It's certainly s case of getting what you paid for. (Excluding Samsung where you can pay a grand and still get a noisy, flimsy load of crap, but hey it has a TV and Ice maker ).

Got two Bekos, a straight freezer, and a fridge freezer built in. Neither have put a foot wrong in ten and six years respectively.

Im with ditchmyster on this one.
Just buy one you like the look of.
When it breaks just replace it.
They are pretty cheap to be honest and most do an adequate job.
