Berlin truck 'terrorist attack': 12 killed in Christmas market crash
https://www.theguardian.com/world/li...as-market-live
No details have yet been released about the identities of the 12 people known to have been killed in Berlin.
A man found dead in the truck has been ruled out by police as the driver at the time of the attack. Police say he was a Polish citizen.
The Polish delivery company that owned the vehicle said it lost touch with the driver at 4pm local time after it left the country for Berlin.
Owner Ariel Zurawki said he feared the vehicle, driven by his cousin, might have been hijacked. He told the Polish news outlet TVN24: “They must have done something to my driver.”

Hi,
Now thought that the Pakistani national that was arrested at the zoo was not the attacker - which would mean that they are still on the loose!
It seems the GPS tracker on the truck showed it being started repeatedly early yesterday and being driven erratically.
Poor Polish driver might have been forced to show the attacker how to operate it - before he was killed.
Cowardly bas*ards!
Cheers
Steve

Yep they killed him & put him in the top bunk ( Scania top line ) - just to add , vehicle tracker was enabled ( thru built in sat nav on tractor & trailer also tracker fitted so in hindsight , both tractor & trailer were live ... how on earth did it get to Germany , I'll tell you why , like everything else in road haulage , a complete dis regard for driver well being , I know traffic office staff don't sit & watch tracker blips on screen all day but surely , the guy was doing drop offs in Poland not Germany ... , I'm guessing the trailer was either empty or was very light , because the diff between fully freighted 44 ton & empty 15-17 ton is day & night in terms of driving ..also bet the driver was a hostage till nearly at the kill zone before they finished him ..

Yes, dragged in due to his vicinity to the scene, but released due to insufficient evidence. Perhaps no evidence, but insufficient because he's Pakistani and happens to be an asylum seeker. I wonder how he's feeling for being stereotyped.
A Tunisian asylum seeker is being suspected, now. Seems to be holding much more sufficient evidence, in addition to his race and status.

The guy they are looking for apparently came into Europe via Italy last year and claimed Asylum in Germany earlier this year. He was arrested earlier this year for possesing fake Italian papers when he was stopped at a police control in the town where I live. Its not clear if his application for asylum was before or after (because of) this. He was held here for a few days, but is not resident in the area.
They apparently found his residence permit in the Truck, presumably lost during a struggle with the Polish driver. He is also known to be an associate with a cleric who was arrested in November.

Massive €100,000 reward with apparently four different shapes of the main suspect's face on the posters in Germany. Which shape is actually his remains in question. Is it round, oval, square or the triangular one? Bet many lookalikes would get grassed up for nothing.
I didn't realise that Germany's surveillance was that poor. They can't even be sure of the suspect's face shape who was under the radar for a good while. Not even enough CCTV cameras there; according to the Sky news.

I could be being really cynical here but does anyone else think it's a little odd that this is the second time something like this has happened and the authorities have miraculously found the terrorists papers in the lorry? Surely if something like that was your big plan in life, you'd destroy them before hand.

Germans must love Edward Snowden, then.

IS have taken the responsibility, so this Tunisian man on the run may be an IS-er.

They now do have a suspect with more concrete evidence who they are looking for. His paperwork was found inside the lorry, and his finger prints have also been collected off the lorry. He's a bit of a warped individual who went to jail for four years, for arson attack on an Italian school. The first caught one seems to be just an unlucky sod; for being a Pakistani asylam seeker, and for being close to the scene.
IS have taken the responsibility, so this Tunisian man on the run may be an IS-er.

My point was it's always quick to accuse to spread fear instead of facts.
So suspect 'still' on the loose. Hope he's caught and made to pay for his actions.

Here, his siblings say that when he lived at home, he used to get p7ssed loads, and never ever bothered to pray etc. Basically, I think they're saying that he was a non-believer, then. They guess that he was probably brainwashed during his time in jail, and became the other side of the coin. They're very upset with him:

I still feel for the man who first got dragged in for sod all. I will also feel for the poor lookalikes. That's why I was questioning differing pictorial descriptions.
