Default Drum kit - which colour?

The better half has agreed to buy me a new kit for my fortieth birthday, but I'm torn between two colours.

Smokey chrome:

and honey amber:

What would you have?

Ahhh, drum kits, the bane of my life for the last 10 years

If you are a "rocker" I would go for the Orange

I used to have a pearlescent blue one in my younger days , I'd probably go for the less showy smokey one now a days

Smokey chrome would look good with stage lights bouncing off it

+1 ^^

Amber might look better in natural daylight, but that's not the way most gigs are played.

My personal choice would be wine red - but that is no help here.

As said - if you are down to two and planning to gig with this, I would go for the smokey chrome kit, if it is something to sit in a rehearsal room, go with the orange one.

Pearl do a 'red sparkle', but it's not one of my favourites.

I have a nice vintage cherry Epiphone guitar that I've always thought would look nice on a kit.

I won't be gigging with the new kit (it'll be set-up in my garage) so lights and that sort of thing aren't much of concern. I do really like the chrome, but the finish on the amber is lush.

I meant pics of your Les Paul if you have some; would like to see them if you don't mind sharing. Agree that the fourth pic down looks lovely.

Bought the kit today along with a new stool; went for the extra tom as well. The owner of Drum Depot in Cardiff is going to deliver, build and tune it for me free of charge which I thought was rather good of him. Threw a pair of sticks in, too. Went for the smokey chrome in the end. Unbelievably excited to receive the kit when we get back from the South of France in a couple of weeks. Ear plugs, anyone?!

I almost went down the Roland route a couple of years back but hankered after a nice acoustic kit. Out in the country now with a reasonably sized detached garage so I've pulled the trigger. Chuffed to bits when I had a play on the demonstrator this afternoon! Having said all that the TD8K is nice.

Mark from Drum Depot Cardfiff came over to set this up earlier. I'm so chuffed!

We have the builders in at the moment and they're keeping all their gear in the garage so things are a bit tight. Nonetheless, I've just played for one and half hours straight!

It's a very nice looking drum kit, actually. I'm glad you chose the chrome shade. Amber is too much 'in yer face' and makes a headachy noise without having to beat it and that blood red/cherry shade is too goth. You might as well get your hair dyed in purple to play that sparkly cherry coloured one. Chrome is nice and decent looking thing. Will go well with your upcoming great hair, as you're 40 now.

I hope you are left handed, not just the drum tech!

I'm right handed, but play drums left handed.
