Artificial grass
Has anyone looked at this or done it? Have a small piece out the back that is there for cosmetic reasons, bit of grass decking, seating etc. then you step down to the main garden.
The bit I am thinking of is hard work as sits in partially in shade and drainage is poor so gets a lot of moss.
So was thinking, fake it and it will be something less to worry about.

Cheers Donny,
How much preparation do you need to do, have seen it where you lay a membrane (to stop the weeds) then sand to level, is is it hard work or better to get someone to just do it for you?
And how have you found it has lasted, mine should'nt see much traffic, so hope it will be ok.

Looks brand new still pal
She bought it herself ...from a carpet shop iirc!
Dug the old turf up , normal membrane you would pebble over then I put a 2 inch sand bed down and levelled it....then the artificial grass.
Stabbed 6 inch green galvi nails through it to hold it down.
The only thing she said was the cheap stuff looked and felt like a cheap Christmas tree whereas the stuff she bought is really thick and soft to walk on....so pay that little bit more

My mum in-law has it in her back garden. I'd tick it as 'satisfactory' but not 'excellent'. She paid a fortune to a professional to lay it. It doesn't hurt your bare feet and looks real, but still doesn't feel real imo. Not agile enough and lacks moisture (obviously, I know) to look alive. I think rubber would be better material to manufacture a grass replica than the softened plastic. If it's already a mixture of both, then the manufacturer needs to increase the rubber quantity in it. It may increase its cost, I suppose.
Saying that, if I had money, I'd get my gardens done with the stuff that the ladyship has. I effing hate cutting grass or waiting around for the gardener chappy to mow it.

It's pretty straight forward. If you have a problem with drainage in the said area then excavate and whacker plate 100/150mm hardcore down. 4/2 tantalised timber around the area, leave hardcore about 25mm below top of timber then screed wash grit to the top for a cushioned soft standing. Roll out Astro and screw decking screws down through timber to hold. Brush half a bag of kiln sand over area.
FYI, Astro comes in 2m or 4m widths so any wider would need to be joined by tape/adhesive.
