Default Clarkson v Evans v Shmee

With all the BBC chopping, changing and rumours "Who the hell do we want for TOP GEAR hosts?"

This is how the public would choose our 3 presenters!

I would like to see you as the next presenter Matt.

'This week on top gear, I review the WRX, the Stig takes the WRX around the track, we vote for the best model WRX and we exclusively reveal that the WRX is faster than the STi'

Programme ensues.....

'And on that STi-slaying bombshell, Next week on top gear, I drive a WRX, Le Blanc buys a WRX and Evans adds a white WRX to his collection, goodnight!'

I'm quite surprised at the STIG being at 40th, it could be quite tasty with him being a co-host. A real parting shot by the beeb.

Because he's boring as hell, much like all the various YouTube car show types.

I don't know. There's a guy called 'SubaruWRXfan' (not taking the pi$$, that's actually his name) I find very interesting to watch. He's American and reviews all cars, very good IMO.

I watch him a lot, he's like a cross between Stephen Hendry and Will Young, but camper! He gives out a giggly scream every time he accelerates.

There's a fat guy on /DRIVE I like but I can't remember his name to list him.

Farrah is awesome and quite specific at times, I like the fact he reviews JDM tuner cars too, when dicks like Clarkson are anti-modifications and anti-JDM. Patterson would draw the female crowd!

Seeing we're banging the same drum over and over again, i'll have my turn. Car shows are niche, the general public has very little interest in car shows (hence why TG was popular as an entertainment show and 5th gear unpopular as a car show). JDM/Modified cars shows are even more niche and of no interest to the general public. Hence why nobody produces shows about them for mainstream TV.

^^^ Agree completely Neil.

If Top Gear were just a car review show in it previous form with Clarkson, then it wouldn't have had the number of viewers around teh world as it did. To be honest, even years ago I got bored with the old Top Gear format before Clarkson re-vamped it!

TBH there are a few vloggers I check for updates before Shmee, but I probably prefer their content over themselves.

I showed one of Shmee's Youtube vids to my mum and she said she'd not be able to watch him because of his lisp!

I think the way Shmee POV films makes you feel kinda part of his lifestyle when watching. Almost like your with a friend cruising the Route Napoléon. I suppose you could call it "Supercar envy."

as others have said, clarkson and co. were popular for their personalities and how they interacted with each other. slagging hammond for being small and having white teeth, captain slow for being er.. slow and clarkson for saying power a lot etc it was always just 3 middle aged blokes effing about having a laugh pretty much and doing stuff most of us would love to do hence the appeal

TBH the undeniable success of the youtube car vlogger is due to the fact many incorporate lifestyle into their vids, great driving roads, car shows, car launches, modified cars, reviews, races and Top Gear pastiche type challenges. They have an extra dimension to the Top Gear format.

It'd be nice if the new Top Gear show featured the presenters own cars and what they planned to do with them or buy next.

Neil and BPR will be happy enough if the casual racism is retained!

Shmee is too liberal for that!

OK, STIG then!

Coming up on 6,000 voters and 50,0000 votes!

TBH I think that's a pretty strong top 10 emerging, I can imagine any would do a good job of faithfully preserving the Top Gear feel.

Shmee would certainly fill the shoes of May.

Just to put it in perspective, the BBC estimate 350 million people watch(ed) Top Gear. So those 6000 voters (assuming each voter is an individual person, which is not guaranteed) amount to 0.0017% of the Top Gear viewership. Well i guess the public have spoken.

Are you on pay per click now aRSe_Matt? You've mentioned your boyfriend shmee's STUPID name 45 times now already. It's a little obsessive if you ask me.

You're a strange fella!

I think this is it really

the genius of TG was it appealed to my 9 year old daughter

it was more akin to Mr Bean than an actual car show

no pure car show would do that - but it had enough car stuff to keep the petrol heads happy

That's 6,000 voting in less than 24 hours though.

I want to rank all the Imprezas ever made on Ranker.com but there's so f**kin many variants.
