Default Car insurance on the up again?

Just had a quote for the ****-stra....£180.92 fully comp, protected ncd.

Now that's a 21.85% increase on last year, when inflation has been hovering around 0% this year.

So I ring and enquire as to why, but get the usual rubbish about underwriters, who, we all know, make it up as they go along....witness my TWO quotes for a new car last year, 3180 with NO ncd and £150 with 60% ncd.......and they wouldn't shift!!!

So off I go the meerkats, but can't come up with under £179, nor can Go Compare.

I've had to go BACK to my present insurers and accept their "generous" offfer of £155.01.:mad

Still over a 4% increase when inflation is at 0% or thereabouts.

It'll be all the uninsured Eastern Europeans in this town shoving my premium up. There are two or three in the paper every week, and many more who don't get reported according to a friend in the courts.

Insurance is nothing to do with inflation, it's to do with claims for repairs, more so now, personal injuries and uninsured accidents.

At the end of the day, everyone pays for all these things every year and when there is a bad year for them, we pay more to cover that cost.

Some of it will be wage increases, everything increases like that and workers need to be paid too.

Wages usually go in line with inflation, insurance in doesn't.

As above. They tried to tell me it was all sorts of things like postcodes etc, but if that were true, some years it would go DOWN? It never does.
