And the mark of a true true champion is someone who can pull out a performance when it really matters, when the pundits had written him off
Brilliant stuff - and great result for Jessica and Mo too

You joke, but right now it's exactly how I feel. How can anyone be presumed clean at the moment, Bolt included? And considering how 'unexpectedly' fast he was in the final, just plants seeds of doubt.
Athletics as a sport is ruined for a generation IMO.

Bolt won by 1/100th of a second, or something similar. Assuming Gatlin has learned his lesson (questionable perhaps) ad is now clean, that's hardly a comfortable winning margin considering the consequences (for Bolt) of being found guilty of doping.
I get where you're coming from, but at some point you have to accept that top athletes do pass the tests and not everyone is painted with the doping brush.

From my perspective there's definitely a sentiment in our media that our British darlings of athletics would never do such a thing, it's something other countries do, and our guys/gals are being cheated out of medals. I don't buy that, and I don't buy the truth that the media and sports brands would love us to believe, that their World superstars are all drug-free, it would hurt their bottom line.

Would I be surprised if it came out that she was not clean? Yes, but not as much as others would be I suspect.

Gatlin is supposed to be clean so how come he is faster now? Please explain.
He's still at it but has learnt over the years how to avoid detection.
The testers are always going to be playing catch up.

Usain was actually slower in the final than his rival was in his heat.
I listened to a depressing interview on Radio 5 where a convicted dope supplier was explaining, at length, the techniques and substances that are available to athletes to improve performance. He was saying that many can't, or are not, currently part of the testing regime. Some can be used the night before a race and some can be taken months in advance. Testosterone, as an example, would add about 2 yds extra for a male 100m sprinter and double that for a female as they have less natural testosterone to start with.
If what this guy was saying was true the doping problem hasn't a snowball's chance of succeeding.
For rhe record I think Mo, Jess and Usain are clean but what would I know

Glad Bolt won, especially if claims to be clean ring true (Asafa Powell and The Beast both on same team and got caught doping). The media love a soap opera and have hammered Gatlin, but he wasn't the only ex-doper (or previously caught doper) on that field. Tyson Gay was banned too and Powell. I can't see how Gatlin is getting quicker at 35 and remaining clean yet Bolt is slower (albeit has been injured) at 29.
I'd like to think he's won an honest race. But then if they were all doping then tbh I wouldn't care. I think too much energy is wasted on something that is never going to go away. Too many people appear to think the sacrifice of dignity is acceptable to simply win and for that reason amongst more I'm sure, there will always be doping.
