I had carpel tunnel in my left hand, symptoms were, pins and needles in fingers, numbness in fingers, restricted movement, found it hard to hold any thing tight, ie holding a potato, whilst peeling..., a screwdriver whilst turning, holding anything tight, anything that needed grip,..it kept me awake at night,....numbness/pain.. hand used to "fold back on itself", felt like it needed "shaking" to regain feeling.
Had op 4+ years ago, no pain, until after, measly pain killers..lol had it under local anaesthetic, l watched the clock,... it took 13 mins.
Does not hurt/annoy me now but still have no strength/grip in the hand. 65% success in my book. still no strength/grip.
There is also some thing called "trigger finger" which can make the fingers "close" I believe.
got it nowin my right hand...lol..

See I don't have any that , yet , perhaps
Only problem , and its isn't really problem , is slightly stiff in mornings and can't get em straight .
Suppose could see docs , but I'm sure they got more serious stuff

Aged 55.
Suddenly experiencing pins & needles in certain fingers.
Went to doc after a few weeks.
Diagnosed CTS. Said its a common issue.
Remedy: Wear a hand/forearm brace through the night.
Bought one off Ebay for £2.99
Cleared up after about 4 weeks. 4 months later no issues whatsoever

I have or think I have trigger finger .
Woke up one morning and left thumb locked - So I unlocked it . I hit the roof pain was severe.
Pain traversed into the thumb pad and remained so for 3 months -locking up during sleep then having to crack it to unlock , with the associated pain.
Persisted with stretching exercises obtained from youtube and now after 4 months 95% back to normal.Still occasionally locks up , but can unlock without any pain.
BPH wanted to operate on it , but could give no guarantee on outcome .
I would avoid surgery until you exhaust physiotherapy first.

Go to your doc, Dunc. It must be frightening to have your both hands bent and jammed. I'm just wondering whether it's just an RSI of some type. Do you ride your push bike a lot with putting ample strain on your wrists? Do you feel any strain on your wrists? In any case, go to yer doc. Could be nasty Arthritis for what we know.
On the the other hand (don't worry about the pun) your right hand fate line and planets are more prominent than of the left one, which is good. That compensates the poor AA road atlas for Britain on your left hand.
In addition, get rid off that hideous 70's table. Well, unless it has some emotional value for you. In that case, I'm sorry for calling it hideous in advance.
Best wishes, matey.

IT LOOKS LIKE DUPUYTRENS CONTRACTURE. In case you missed it the first time I told you.
It is NOT carpal tunnel or arthritis or RSI.

That's why I said sorry in advance, Duncan. Apologies, again. I even typed asking if you lived with your gran. But then I deleted. I somehow had a feeling, man.
Hope your hands get better soon. My Raynaud's was initially diagnosed by my GP as CTS in 2007. I was doing a lot of puppetry and prop lifting, then. Some very heavy props and figures to hold and operate for long time! Went for some physio privately. They also said it was CTS and I could get my wrists operated for that. There was no way I would have gone for that, as the work lined up for me couldn't be obstructed due to that. I also found the idea freaky. So, I went to a local Holland & Barrett type shop. They gave me a mix of three oils to apply on my wrists and hands regularly. I religiously did that, especially 20 mins before the performances. It really helped an awful lot! I don't remember the combination but one of them was certainly the clove oil, which is supposed to be a natural anaesthetic. So, even when it wasn't a cure, it eased my hand jamming and discomfort and I could perform efficiently without any pains.
Anyway, one day in 2009 I ended up at a neurology consultant's in main hospital with something else that he considered as begger all waste of his time. Well, not completely, but he said that he found my issue unexplanable, he had come across it on rare occasions, but he couldn't name the painless strange phenomenon as it's not listed. He was an arrogant pr1ck but he did tell me that I didn't have any CTS. He instead sweepingly diagnosed it as Raynaud's without any close investigation of my hands and history; just symptoms that I reported. I believe he's bang on despite him and his priestly pulpit for taking his notes and his bare feet standing style.

Thinking about that, he was lately taking a pith of the iPhone owners for touch typing on their device with their thumbs. His issue may provide a clue to his own excessive use of his thumbs for touch typing on SN.

Anyway, he should still go to his doctor, though. The diagnosis most probably will be DC, but even then.

Why do some people write paragraph upon paragraph of irrelevant rubbish on a medically related thread but then say all internet advice on such matters should be ignored?
