Ironing shirts
Mrs B, Mother in law and next door neighbour were discussing last night whether its right to Iron the sleeves first or at the end.....I quickly made my excuses and went into the Back Garden for another beer but have since thought that it is something to be discussed here without the usual Race/Immigration/Political arguments breaking out.........However the women of the group could perhaps move the subject onto washing powder etc - (Runs and ducks for cover)

Iron one side/front first - don't miss the button line.
Then onto the back - don't miss the upper back/shoulder area.
Then the other side/front.
Then sleeves - do both sides and always iron a crease from the shoulder to the cuff.
Then cuffs - both sides.
Then shoulders - loads of people miss these.
Then collar - both sides.
The front might need a quick once over again.
Use plenty of steam; if it's over dry, spray water on it (plant sprayers are best) or you'll never get there.
Hang it up on a good hangar with the top button done up. Or just wear it.
Taa daa!

Good lad for being honest.
I'd never iron anyone's clothes even if you pay me! Most boring task in the world. Do it if you have too much time in your hands. Personally, I have much better things to do in my life.

I hardly ever have to do smart but when I do, I do it properly.
Shoes shined to death, suit pressed, shirt immaculate, if it's a DJ do, proper self tied dickie bow.
In the days of daily suit wearing, it did get tiresome but now it's a bit of a novelty.

Post your picture with your James Bond get up, and then we will be the judge of your suit being properly pressed and your shirt immaculate, dickie bow etc.

The correct way to iron a shirt or tee-shirt.
1. Hand the shirt or tee shirt to your girlfriend or wife.
2. Show a bit of willing and setup the ironing board for her, she'll like that as it shows your thinking of her.
3. Sit back with a beer and relax.
4. A few mins later it should be done.
5. Give her a hug when it's done and remind her that being a great ironer is one of the reasons you married her, she'll like the compliment.

This allows the broad section between the tops of the sleeves to be ironed flat.
Use the board like an axle.
Front right.
Rotate until the rear right is on the board.
Rotate until the rear left as above, then roate agin until the front left is upper most.
Collars, underside first the the visible side coverd by a colour fast cloth. This stops any debris or guff that may be on the iron transfering to the outside of the colloar.
Remove the shirt and slide the tapered end into the left shoulder, then the right shoulder. This will get the creases across the back and tops of the sleeves.
Sleeves back and front with the same procedures on the cuffs as the collars. Most of my shirts are double cuff and require an iron on both sides.
A good round edge hangar will prevent any further shoulder creases happening. I use a heavily diluted fabric softener as a spray.
