Dog worry
A big tumour (they think) has appeared on our lovely 8 year old lab in her mouth- being cut out today and sent off for a biopsy. We fear the worst.
She's the most gentle, lovely black lab ever and still in great shape. It appeared very suddenly. Feeling rather sad (which may actually please some of the trolls psychos here)

Sorry to hear that Mattee, hope all is not lost. Many people don't understand how wonderful animals can be as companions and how they really do become part of the family.
Don't worry about the psycho trolls, they seem to save their venom for cats on SN!

Sorry to hear that, we had to put our 13 year old down a month ago, still hurts and the house is feeling empty.
Hopefully yours will be ok and it'll not be the bad one, she still has plenty of years left in her so hopefully will get to see them, it's a tough choice if you have to make it but you will know if you need to as its best for her in the end.
Fingers crossed for you.

On the plus side, she has the cleanest teeth we've ever seen. £320 so far (our insurance covers non dental stuff; her uber teeth clean was over £100!) although that's pretty irrelevant.
Not wishing to sound negative but I would be pretty p!ssed with my vet if they were investigating a possible life threatening illness with one of my dogs and gave me a £100 bill to clean its teeth in the process.

Thanks again everyone.
The weird thing is that she seems fine; running around like a loon last night, constantly wanting a ball thrown (she's not allowed for now); the only real evidence is a shaved area on her front leg. She's on fairly strong medication too but it's not slowing her down.

Fingers very crossed.

Make every moment count.
Its common and sensible practice when they are under general annasthetic and they are in the mouth anyway. Also makes sense to check and clean everthing up as she'll have a wound in her mouth.
Gutted....have 12 year old and 8 year old Border Collies....still kinda hoping that they will outlive me but I know the day will come.....been through it twice having a dog put to sleep and its horrible.....I hope the vet is wrong and she gives you a few more years
