Baby Monitor suggestions please
Hi,
At the end of the week we will have someone stay with us who is recovering from a long stint in hospital. This is an adult but whose mobility is poor and will need help. For a few weeks we will have a carer staying overnight whose prime job is to see patient is OK during the night or needs some help - e.g. getting to the loo. Patient cannot manage stairs so will stay in a bed I have made up downstairs.
So I need to get some kind of monitor for carer to have so she can respond when needed.
I have done some Google research and have in mind getting a 2-way communication monitor with a signal that will go through a standard ceiling and wooden floor. Some of these monitors have a video included so you can see what is happening to baby. Are these just a gimmick or do they work well in practice. I think one will cost around £50, there is quite a selection on Argos.
So please comment if you have used a monitor and what should I look out for.
Of course if you have a working monitor that is no longer needed then I can give it a good home
Thanks mums and dads,
David

We've got 2 Motorola MBP 36 baby monitors, brilliant toy. Has pan/tilt infra red night vision, you can speak calming words to them over the speaker (normally just freaks them out tho...). Can get them 2nd hand for £50 on ebay
