and after the thread when I returned home from working abroad
I went into look at the cook and lewis range at b&q as seen the white high gloss and really liked it,
we went in and viewed it and I pulled a cupboard door out and decided to
test the soft close and when I did the pull out drawer slammed shut and all the other doors fell off LOL
needless to say I said to the wife I am not buying this crap LOL.
we then went to wren kitchens and they were fantastic really good quality on everything and we went for pacrilic white and high gloss black with black ebony starburst quartz worktops.
We used their fitter who was one of the best fitters they had
during the installation we had to get a new boiler as where the boiler was we had to move it as thats where the cooking area was so we went for just a new boiler as the old one had seen better days.
there was loads of work involved as we were knocking down a wall to go open plan.
also we had to put a entire new ceiling up as well amoungst mountains of other things like full new electrics and much much more.
wren are amazing really cant describe how good they were.
the fitter on the other hand was unreliable late and generally a pain in the **** but this was not wrens fault but his work was excellent
so took longer to complete than expected coming in at 5 weeks to complete.
here is the kitchen during the demolition stage
the vent in the corner of the room we found a old wasps nest in the wall vent LOL
ok the kitchen is completely done now but here is a couple of pictures just as it was away to be finished as I had to go working abroad just before it was finished.
so in the pictures there still needed to finish wallpapering behind the fridge freezer but that is now done as well.
we knocked the wall down to go open plan and here it is
on the left there is a big dinning area which I dont have photos of though.
Unfortunately the black polished tiles when grouting sucked in the grout and caused a optical grout haze on the tiles which basicly screwed the tiles
as they were not able to be polished so we just laid the same laminate flooring from the living room straight all the way into the kitchen bit of a pity but still looks awesome.
once my bathroom is done and finished I will go back to the kitchen and rip the floor up and lay black quartz floor tiles as I have found a place who sells the same quartz as my kitchen worktops.
LMAO when my son came into the kitchen he spotted our wine cooler and opened it and said this is his fridge LOL
over all this kitchen project was extremely expensive costing in at 27k
but that was for absolutely everything including the papering and flooring the livingroom and putting a designer radiator into the livingroom also with a new boiler into the kitchen.
my advice to anyone putting in a kitchen like this is to make sure you have a lot of savings as this project went way over budget LOL
Looks great! It also looks like you got some ideas from the pictures I posted of my kitchen . I really like your overall style/theme of the living room and kitchen; it goes really well together. Almost sort of night club/glitzy style if you get what I mean?

Yeah I know and thank you. You can't go wrong with white gloss units and black sparkly quartz worktop . I almost considered a gloss floor but it wouldn't have suited the overall style of my farm house, hence why I went for Walnut flooring.
cant really see it too well but we also went for a massive wall unit where our oven is and pull out larder on the right hand side next to the fridge in black gloss as well
really complements the kitchen when seen in person aswell

I'm totally amazed when people say they got a bathroom or Kitchen for £4k or £10k etc. Either they buy crap, or I'm missing out on every sales going, as I get no where near that. I want a new Kitchen, but the amounts are just stupid.
You've got to not want to move for a while to spend that much, as you'll never recoup that outlay. Probably just like my En-suite.

depends what people go for you get budget kitchens and then expensive kitchens like mines was.
the worktops are solid stone quartz in my kitchen costing over 5k alone and thats just for worktops
then things like a powerful brand new gas boiler with a flu going through the roof and a fancy remote control pad to control the heating 3k just for that
also mosaic tiles 6 sqm worth = 66 tiles at 20 quid per tiles 1320 quid just to buy them and then there is adhesive and grout ontop of that and also a tilers labour to fit it.
just a couple of the costs of the kitchen
I had originally budgeted 15k but for the stuff I wanted costed a lot more dont know whether to laugh or cry but at
the end of the day I have a kitchen that is amazing and is guaranteed for 25 years so happy to stay there that long LOL
27k was easy to reach for what I wanted luckily I had enough put to the side to pay for it all.
that does not include the price of the new windows in that room either
as 7k for new windows throughout the house.
and three windows in that room at 1000 quid each
so 30k including the three windows in that room
but again those windows are made to measure from the best window company in aberdeen and when looking at them the quality really shows.
yea I am surprised how people can put a kitchen in for 4k to 10k
but if they can do the work themselfs that can save them money on the labour costs.
also our bathroom is getting done in july to the same bespoke quality
as the kitchen / living room but I know a guy who is amazing at bathrooms who is
going to do a full bespoke bathroom for us as a homer for 6700 quid
which I am looking forward to getting done

Just an observation.Each to their own.
To be honest with you, I'm with you on white cupboards pointer. I won't have them. However, craftsmanship and overall look deserves credit and doesn't look thorny to my eyes.
I 'helped', did all the painting and floor/wall tiling etc. All the structural bits were done by the father-in-law (that's him knocking the wall through on the first one) he has his own building company so knows what he is doing, and more importantly is at the right price
