recommend me a torch!
Don't know why but I've got the urge to get a good quality torch. I've already got a 4xD cell maglite. not got the led version. its good but i feel that LED's are much better, so as title suggests recommend me a good quality and seriously bright torch for general use. size doesn't matter (according to my mrs lol).

i left some duracell batteries my current one for ages. they leaked and they chemically welded themselves into the 'tube'. had to use a slide hammer crudely screwed into each battery to get the ******* out.

I ordered myself one of these today, expected del Monday/Tuesday so will give it a go and let you know how good it is (currently on ferry to Birkenhead for a long weekend in work)
From what I can see the larger xml t6 led, 2000 lumen and convex lens I should be able to see right across the field out our back.

i do a lot of underground exploration (don't ask) and myself and my mates swear by the Lenser P7's. Small, lightweight, very strong and bloody bright. I dropped mine three stories onto concrete and it still works perfectly.

Costco do a Feit 1000 lumens torch that uses 3 D size batteries, £12.99 + vat including Duracell batteries. The light output is nuts. I bought the 500 lumens version a couple of years ago and was very impressed, but the 1000 lumens is seriously good. I have a couple of big output Chinese torches and an LED Lenser, but they're now gathering dust.

One of my favorite is my nitecore ea41, mainly as it's one of the most powerful AA battery torches you can buy, not to mention it's a nice size.
It's all a muchness really, you'd be better off giving us a price and what you require from it and how big/small you'd want it to be.

I'm currently using a Ultrafire C8 which uses a Cree XML-T6 LED.
Holding up well to daily abuse.
Miles brighter than my LED-Lenser Hocus Focus.
It uses a single Li-Ion 18650 battery, which lasts miles longer than three AAA cell as found in the Lensers. So long as you you use decent quality branded ones.
I've had XML-U2 torches before (including a Ultrafire C8 - which is brighter than the C8 I use now) but found the LED driver packed in after 6month of daily use. LED is still ok, but its just really dim and flickers.
