Back to the dark ages.
Been doing research on mobile phones to replace my utterly ****e Samsung Galaxy Fame in about a month.
I currently pay £8.40 a mth.
What I've come across seems to be that:
1. There are NO reliable mobiles under £25 pm.
2. Once you have the phone and the contract, the provider and manufacturer will lie and do their utmost to AVOID giving you a working phone.
3. I cannot bring myself to triple my monthly outlay.
Accordingly I reckon I'll dump this contract at the end, sell the current pos on ebay and go back to how I was five years ago.....no phone.

Phone contracts are absolutely shocking. I pay £90 a month for mine and my partners phone, I don't know when it became acceptable to spend that kind of money on a phone. We've both agreed that when our contracts come round to renewal were keeping our phones and getting a sim only contract for around £10 a month. Waste of money.

I have to say that life was more peaceful when there were no mobile phones. My first one i bought was in 1997. It was a Phillips brick. Since then, I haven't looked back. Now I'm a proud owner of Apple phone.

Not suggesting the deals aren't there.......but the phones?
So far I've not found ONE that seems reliable. Once you start on reviews, they all hang, drop out, freeze, etc etc etc.
NOT paying £20 a month for crap like that.
Where's that HTC One M8 at? My lad has one, it seems OK. Better than his previous Samsungs anyway. I haven't seen that for under £25.
And next question: Who's the best provider? I want someone who won't fob me off when the phone is crap.

I find that phones aren't very reliable. I've always gone for a contract phone but I find that u are tied in with them for too long (2 years) and the excess is expensive if something goes wrong, think it's £100. Nightmare

Currently using the same Chinese-made no-brand item I've had for nearly four years. Still works great, and very often has better signal in marginal areas than any of the top-spec Apple, HTC, Samsung, etc offerings that mates or work-colleagues carry around. Almost wish sometimes the thing would start acting up just so I could have an excuse to try something new, but it keeps on plodding on regardless and isn't showing any signs of stopping any time soon.

You can get feature phones for next to nothing or older smart phones quite cheaply. Rolling sim contracts are by far the best with unlimited everything for £15 or less (mine £11) Modern smart phones are computers and need a reboot from time to time for smooth operation. For widest UK coverage EE has the best coverage. You can get a virgin sim deal which piggy backs on EE network and are usually less than EE deals. If you require Europe coverage including then it will need a little research to get the right deal.

I can't suggest any phones for what you want to pay mate, but I've been on O2 for about 4 years with no signal issues. Much better than Vodafone, who before O2, I was with for 9 years.

So far, my POS Samsung freezes and stalls, drops it's signal and just locks itself off or on, but won't do anything, receive or make calls, send or receive texts etc.
I took it to France. After fours days, tried to send a text, nothing. Did a reset, it found EIGHT texts people had tried to send me, which it had not picked up.
I thought, hey, maybe it's taking it abroad, but no......it's done the same here in the Uk, regularly.
So I ask Virgin...who tell me it's because I have a memory card with music on it...or maybe it's because I downloaded a couple of apps?
Utter fukcing bullsh1te. The phone is fookin designed for both...and a damned sight more apps and music that I have, that's for sure
I look online....there;s folk having the same problems all over the world. the phone is no longer made, it was such sh1te.
I tell Virgin this. their response? "Well I'm sure if you go online again you'll also find lots of people saying what a GOOD phone it is." Liar!
Would I go with the toothy b'stard's company again?
Not fookin likely!
