TBH they are just young lads after a night out on the town, same as any city in the UK they get into a fight which is basically 2x2 on 1, standard procedure, what they do for a living is immaterial IMO, they should face the full weight of the law.
Obviously they have contacts that see this kind of behaviour as acceptable and it would seem that the judge agrees.
Pretty sad state of affairs when blatant dis-regard for life is sanctioned by the courts.
Wonder what sentences a couple of black lads would have got for doing the same.
Attempted murder and 5yrs a piece at least no doubt, god forbid if they were Muslims, gay or immigrants, they'd have got life.

And as for Muslims, when the first wave of Iraqis hit this town, their youth got into a big-time street brawl with the local Asian youth, ostensibly for "Moving in on OUR girls."
And I mean, big-time.....machetes, swords, knives, hammers, mallets and a couple of petrol bombs.
NO prosecutions..........but the leaders of each community did HAVE to meet with the chief constable over coffee and biscuits to discuss the problem.
Now go back and wonder what local WHITE youth would have got.......

Don't think I ever stamped on anyone's head after a night on the town!
Or indeed if the worst case scenario occurred and you had to defend yourself, don't know where head stamping comes in!

I think the thread title is a bit unfair. I was a squaddie and never stamped on anyones head or ganged up on anyone and beat the **** out of them after a night out on the sauce and trust me we had a fair few of those night on a 2 year posting to Cyprus
Civilian yobs do stuff like this aswell, the fact they were soldiers is academic. There are ar5eholes in all walks of life.

Are we reading the same story here?
where does it say they got promoted or they have been commended for it?
They are both looking at immediate discharge unless the CO comes up with exceptional circumstances to keep them.

I'm sure a squaddie could sort out most fighting boys, but stamping on heads is so low
Think as you say,you do get awful people and sadly this time ,the army didn't teach them anything

MP's and expenses, that was career enhancing for some.
Footballers/rugby players etc on live TV.
How many rioters get convicted.
How many people who kill through reckless driving etc get a custodial sentence.
It makes me rage when I see soldiers doing this. The courts have delivered their verdict but I can tell you know that internal actions will be taken against them as individuals. Their Character statements are standard, templated delivered by a unit rep and are pretty much bu**sh*t.
But how many scumbags who are convicted of other crimes portrayed as glowing members of society and we then find out that 40 od or more other convictions are taken into consideration?
They will be off here soon and no doubt the attitudes will change.

And head stamping is now standard practice for most ********* in fights, not just soldiers. Let's not forget they are drawn from society and with it societies problems.

I was brought up near an armed forces base and if truth be told the percentage of f*cktards was significantly higher amongst the low ranking personel than it was amongst joe public.
You do however get them everywhere and these two should be doing jail time irrespectiove of being in the forces or not. No question. In addition to the stamping, leaving someone unconscious on the road, in the dark, is a disgrace.
Those two pieces of scum easily had the better of the other blokes and could have walked away much earlier having made their point well enough.
