Default GoPro's.

Just after advise regarding where to mount GoPro's for a trackday, inside the car.

Previously over the last few years at the Ring I've used the suction cup mount and fixed it to the window, but now many tracks won't allow this fixing.

I have an old Hero 2 with the Motorsport package mounts. Is there anything in the pack I can use without using the adhesive mounts or is there a mount I can buy that does the job without the need to leave anything permanent.

I don't have a cage (yet) or harness bar.

Any advice welcome

I took the interior light lense off, then made a bracket that fits the light mounting screws and fitted the camera to that.

Good thinking that. Annoyingly I don't have the time to make something as my trackday is a week away and I'm away with work until the night before. So looking for something off the shelve if possible.

I remember seeing someone knock something up and mount it to the headrest before.

That's the sort of thing I've got in my head but pretty sure it's another DIY job...

Buy the handlebar mount for bikes. I have it and you should be able to attach it to the verticles on your headrest. You may need another bracket to angle it properly though.

Or, if you wear helmet, use the helmet mount (either the sticky one or the elasticated one that goes on).

What's the issue with the suction cups?

I used to get a camera tripod and tie it with zipties into the back of the car, using the back of the seat rails & a suitable protrusion under the back seat. No way was it moving anyplace and the couple of times it was questioned by the marshals, was passed after they saw how secure it was.

I've been told many trackday companies now no longer allow them, they are not considered a strong enough fixed anchor apparently.

Well I've just spoken to MSV (who the day is with) and they said as long as the mount has been designed for the purpose of filming inside/outside the car and is firm then it's fine...Will give the suction cup a go and see what happens then.
