I think it will need de-gaussing. TVs have a de-gaussing coil (dodgy ground here - experts please correct me ) fitted round the back of the CRT. It de-gausses the tube every time it's turned on. You could try cycling the coil by turning TV on for 1 minute, then off (not standby) for 30 secs. Try this 5 or 6 times.

If no joy then you might need a professional degaussing coil - TV repair places will have them.

If it has not been there for too long then it should sort itself out eventually. I sometimes have this problem (after someone has managed to walk into the 3ft speakers beside the TV and move them too close to the TV) and after removing the source of the problem and using the TV like normal for a day or two the picture returns to normal.

Thumbs up

Using the TV as normal (usual on/off cycle) should eventually clear it as the degaussing coil operates whenever the TV is switched on/off. Doing it 5/6 times in a row will just clear it quicker

Luke,

i left a JVC "boom blaster" next to my Sony widescreen for several weeks, and i noticed a green tinge on the screen (when it should have been black). After moving the portable, and a couple of off-and-ons, the problem cured itself (thankfully!).

Fingers crossed!

yep - needs de-gaussing.

I put 2 big speakers either side of the TV and got intermittent colour distortion (altho' I didn't connect the two events).

The tv repair man just waved a ?de-gaussing coil in front of the TV and the distortion disappeared ......
