Christmas is over
#4
I only started back properly today and I broke up on the 19th December. Work dragged me in all week but it was a waste of time as no gear turned up for me so I had to go home and being self employed I made no cash. I was more bothered about getting up early than actually wasting my time going into work.

Christmas was over on Christmas Day night; that's when we took the tree down along with all the indoor decorations and cards. Just clutter the place up and make it look a mess.

I'm naturally a sad bast@rd when it comes to getting up, I tend to be up by six(ish) whether I'm working or not, that's one of my 'very few' bad habits lol.
Like yourself I'm self employed, I'm set up as a LTD company so no pay for me over the festives either so I was quite keen to get back into it.
That's Xmas and New Year done, next stop summer, bring it on!!

Never stopped, I hate Christmas where everyone uses one day to have three weeks of shutdown. Any company that can't pay my invoice this month due to cash flow issues will be told 'well stop taking three weeks off at Christmas and your cashflow issues won't happen, now pay up you lazy bunch of ****s'.

Supposed to have been back since the 29th., but have been pretty ill over last week (chest infection - can't breath). Still not right but I dragged my **** in last Monday.
Been half an hour late for over the past month. I'm past giving a crap to be frank...it has its advantages: Saves me opening up and dealing with customers - I'd only drive them away anyway.

Been off since the 10th dec and back on the 5th jan.
Always try to aim for a month off over Xmas as don't have any time off through the year.
Been decorating and putting a log burner in at home all over Xmas though so kinda been working lol
Self employed with my own company.
It was nice to get back to normal though I must admit.

Bring it on.
I'm sick to death of the commercialisation of it all.
I've been a real humbug this year - I didn't buy one single present (the advantage of not having kids I guess ). I didn't want to receive any either. Got enough junk as it is and if I need something I'll buy it myself.

St nick is definitely super nanny in my eyes, having angelic children through December too afraid to play up in case they didn't get presents on Christmas Day.
I like Christmas. Time off, alcohol and foods you wouldn't normally eat. And visiting and catching up with family. We budget only £100 for each of our children, especially as my 2 youngest have birthdays between Christmas and new year.

I, too, felt fed up with the notion of shopping this Christmas. I just didn't want to. I found myself lost in shops. I did buy some gifts, and what gave me a half-hearted push was those lit up faces upon finding something surprising in them. It was the thought of shopping for gifts that seemed more exhausting and frustrating than the act of buying itself. And yes, the semi-unconscious factor to feel like that is that I know how much junk everyone ends up with; every Christmas.
Regarding back to work, it's all fine here, but I do realise that I'm not a morning person. For that reason, I have late retiring and rises on the weekends, and I love them. Especially in Winter I can't be bothered getting out of bed at all, full stop. But, hey. We have to, and that's the way it is.

Christmas in our family (me my wife and 3 children) is always a big deal, our youngest is 5 and loves the whole ordeal, my 2 boys are 12 and 14 so gets very expensive at that age.
Think we spent in the region of 2k+. on presents alone, probs another £200-£300 of foods and chocs etc.
At Xmas as long as we are fortunate enough to be able to afford then money is no object, the kids grow up to quick and we like to spoil them.
Proper Xmas family here

You're right, they are only young once, and they should enjoy it. There will be years and years for us to enjoy what we earn once they have flown the nest.
