My hero (for today anyway)
As some of you know we have a 7 stone doberman, we also have a very small hamster that we have inherited since our daughter went to uni. Three days ago the hamster escapes, after a couple of days we even started checking the dogs craps for hair etc, nothing, then 3 this morning dog starts going mad on the stairs which normally means he need a non planned crap, so we run down stairs only to find the dog trying to push the hamster back up the stairs.
Would a big dog normally do this

Sounds typical Doberman to me.
Ours used to like coercing frogs into the house. He also used to chase birds until he caught one without harming it - brought it in to show us then took it back out side and let it go. I think he was trying prove a point as he didn't bother chasing them after that

A friends doberman likes to herd her 3 horses, if she could teach it to open the stable doors it would be very useful.

My sister-in-law's cat brought a mouse back home, dropped it in the kitchen, then walked away leaving the mouse on the floor. She brought the dog into the kitchen, got it's attention on the mouse (which was running around) and said FETCH. The dog got the mouse in it's mouth and my sis got a bucket and said DROP. Result; one lucky mouse, one relieved sis and a very well trained dog. (flyball training helped).
