Default Is anybody else teetotal and have this problem?

I havent drank alcohol for last 4 years since having my son Damien mainly because i like to be in control of myself and i know if i have 1 that will lead to a shed load more, also cant do hangovers any more, so i goes the pub with a group of people and as i only drink diet coke or water all i had all day was idiots saying " oh come on have a proper drink, you cant be having a good time not drinking " , had to leave in the end got so pissed off, just cos other people cant have a good time without the drink doesnt mean we are all the same,

rant over

yes some 'people' need to drink to have a good time as they are unable to converse / be fun without it.

Reading between the lines it seems your friends find you boring unless you've had a drink.

Seriously though anybody who encourages somebody who is teetotal to have a drink is a tw8t.

On the other hand perhaps you really are untolerable unless you've had a drink.....

Yep, it's a real pain sometimes.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to enjoy myself on a night out without the need for drink, but most of my drinker friends/colleagues don't realise that.

I always get funny looks when I say I don't drink neither

People Always seem suspicious of people that don't drink for some reason

I wouldn't say suspicious exactly, drinkers are more wary around non-drinkers because where drinkers get drunk, have a bit of crack, let their guard down, & wake up next morning knowing that they enjoyed themselves, but forgetting a big part of what they did to actually enjoy themselves, they know before they get drunk that the non-drinker will be there watching everything & taking notes of every thing everyone does to carry into work the next day if it is a work do.

I had someone come up to me at a works do when I was having a good oul bit of crack with a couple of the girls from work & say watch out so & so is keeping a close eye on everything you are doing. It made me angry, & sort of ruined the night for me because I didn't feel that I could relax after that.

Yeah, I had this problem. I solved it fairly easily by getting new friends.

Lots of more interesting things to waste your money on other than booze.

I never really acquired the taste for alcohol - never bothered my friends nor me being a "teetotaller" - usually combined with being the designated driver.

When I used to work "security" at Hatfield Poly (many, many moons ago) I used to love watching the lads get drunk and then I'd get to take their girlfriends home for a quick service - most were too pre-occupied with downing beers to know what their girls had been up to, lol

If your friends can't accept you not drinking get some new friends as these ones obviously can't see any further than the bottom of the beer glass. Don't rise to peer-pressure - this world is full of sheep as it is ^^

It's a real pain ....

I've never like the takes of alcohol ...... I'm now 41 and haven't had an alcoholic drink for over 20 years.

Yeah sure your always get people telling me what I'm missing. What gets me is the people that think you have a drink problem, and edge round the subject to find out.

No I'm not an alcoholic I don't like alcohol .... Simples

I spent yesterday at my rugby club doing some maintenance/clearing etc.
I declined two offers of free alcohol when we'd finished, much to the other guys amazement.

On the 3rd offer I gave in and ended up having 4 pints

Weak willed, but had a great time

Sometimes i wish i was teetotal (the morning after).

I love being a **** pot and have to say me and my mates have done some pretty crazy things because we were out of it but we probably wouldnt have if we were sober, so i guess im part of the significant group of people who need a drink to have a good time lol and i couldnt care less...

Theres no way id push a teetotal person into having a drink though,
Each to their own and what not....

I'm not teetotal but I hardly ever drink!

I went on my stag do in prague earlier this year and whilst I drank loads more than normal, i know what my limit is and got mocked for not being steaming drunk the whole time. Regardless, amazing stag do!

I hate the feeling of waking up feeling rough, ruining the next day.

If I was strict on myself, I'd say I drink a bit much; never a large quantity but I have a drink or two most days.

About to head off for a month abroad; I had alerted my kidneys and liver to a sustained attack of Rioja, Bordeaux, Chablis and Sagres. And violently strong coffee.

It's the problem with the drinking culture that pervades this country. You can't have a good time unless you're p1ssed and of course to be a proper man you have to be able to 'hold your ale'. What a load of bollocks!

Tell them to grow up and ignore them after that!
