Rad size/heating/btu question
Hi, a bit of advice please in terms of rad size and placement.
I have a bedroom that is 5.5m x 5.5m x 2.65m. It has two external walls and two large windows. Built with cavity insulated walls and an insulated loft space.
I've used an on line calculator and it comes up with about 10,000 btu.
Now I can find a single vertical rad of about 0.6m by 2m that gives out the 10,000 btu. Obviously having less rads is better as it leaves more space for other stuff.
But would it be a bad idea to have a single rad in a room this size in terms of getting uniform heating in the room?
Thanks
(btw, underfloor heating etc is out as there will be thick carpets)

In a remarkably similar room with 10% smaller dimensions, but on an exposed hill in Scotland, we use two small radiators on opposite sides of the room. I wouldn't like to replace with one.

I made this error when I built my extension, I created a bedroom which is 21ft x 21ft above a double garage, and only fitted a single radiator. Definately place one on either side of the room, particular problem in my bedroom is there is no heated room below it, so no warmed air rising from beneath.

Thanks.
My plan was to use at least one vertical radiator. Though some quote large btu outputs are they as effective as horizontal radiators? The reason I ask is that despite their name I thought radiators did most of their heating by convection and so height of a vertical radiator might be a hindrance.

We have a very large through room and changed to 2 vertical rads last year. They look superb on the wall and give out more heat than the two huge 3m wide panel rads that they replaced. The finish on them is excellent as well unlike some cheaper versions.

Thanks Alcazar, noted, two it is then on (nearly) opposite sides.
Chip, are those the exact rads you used and from that website? That's a very good price.
