Yep, we had some men in black suits turn up and pull the plug.
Nah, it wasn't as draamtic as that; The thread creator just asked for it to be deleted.
Anyhoo, for what its worth, every person in my family that has been prescribed them has had bad side effects. Maybe its a genetic thing...but then, so is the cholesterol/blood pressure problem. The thing is from what I gather, GPs HAVE to prescribe them as the first measure of treatment before the alternate medications can be be considered after the patient has complained of the side effects.
What did concern me was this report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-26132758 as well as earlier reports stating similar.
That IMO is nuts, especially if the root problem is diet/fitness related (it isn't in my family's case).

I thought more of the original poster, but to kill his own thread like this, when it was just getting interesting is disappointing. Like popcorn being denied when you are not on a low carb diet. So I got out my first beer for 8 weeks instead.

Maybe Pfizer got him as they couldn't take any more after atorvastatin came off patent?

Did he really do something to kill his own thread, though? He's not saying anything, so I'm not sure what happened there.

It got two acerbic comments after John's from someone who was trying to be a smart alec and I just can't be bothered with it any more. It was either tell them what I really thought and get banned again or ask for it to be deleted .... I chose the latter.
Let's just stick to racism and homophobia from now on as they seem to be the lifeblood of NSR ..... oh and with a bit of migsogynism thrown in of course

If that's being a "smart alec" then okay! I'm guessing you are not a scientist.

No, you chose to pluck out of what you wished from my reply ignoring the bits that didn't suit your usual agenda in order to start with the usual baiting. Well it didn't work this time so now you can go and annoy someone else.

That's a shame. Medicine is trying to pull itself out of personally gathered, uncontrolled, biased evidence. When we debate medical topics can we not try to do the same?

That's the difference between a medicine and an anti-medicine i.e. Scoobynet. One cures, the other one can make one very ill with personally gathered, uncontrolled, biased evidence
^ That's not biased btw. I stand disinterested.
