I just try to take comfort in imagining what sort of cosmic karma payback the man is owed for his nefarious acts. Sadly he has and continues to get away with it...

Call it a disgrace if you like, but between him and Gerry Adams it's been bomb free over here for some time. Let's hope it stays that way. Sooner or later, the past has to become the past.

Agreed, the peace process was and is more important to Ireland than chasing down every single person who commited a crime during the troubles.

Clinton had way more to do with it than either of two C***ts you mentioned.

One might question the Gaddafi embrace?

Blair had his merits - getting his party elected was one of course.

Only by applying pressure to the US "Irish" contingent. I'm more Irish than most of the prats who bankrolled the IRA.
Gerry Adams should be up for a peace prize. He's walked a precipice for years, in considerable danger of being assassinated by either side.

I'm sure a good number of the victim's familes would argue about that.

They may well do, but things have to move on, the future is more important.

Those families that might argue, need only take a look around them at how things have changed.

There will always be a group of arseholes who will be intent on 'trying' to cause trouble.
They won't win, the vast majority of people here do not want to return to that shyte and will not allow them to win.

Almost 100 IRA fugitives who were given "letters of comfort" from Tony Blair's government stating they were no longer wanted for past crimes are suspects in nearly 300 murder cases, a senior police commander admitted on Wednesday.
Well worded sentence there ..

Yeah, some people will never let it drop though; I agree there is a bigger picture. But the ripples of events in the past stretch alot further than just NI; Just through timing of events I may not even have existed....my mum used to walk past the Mulberry Bush every evening.

There's still campaigning to get the investigation re-opened as all those convicted were released on appeal. Seems odd that the likes of Hilsborough and Lawrence gets re-reviewed and re-investigated, yet a terrorist attack gets brushed aside. That can't be right, can it?

Yet I still wouldn't want to go back to a time where you couldn't park a car with a Irish plate in a busy part Brum without it causing a stir. I was not happy when my Dad bought me a Irish plate (xxxxIA...the IA was a **** take for me saying "I aye" all the time due to my rather vocal Black Country dialect )....I was paranoid the bomb squad would cordon off my car everytime I took it into the city. It had happened before with false alarms to police from paranoid public; The Arndale shopping centre had recently been blown up, so people were edgy that it could happen in Brum too (me included), obviously I know that Arndale was blown up by a UK registered truck, but that didn't stop bomb squad being called to a Irish plated car left parked on double yellows in Brum . I laugh now, but back then it wasn't funny.

Personally I'd like better investigation into any people in public office that aided in bank-rolling the IRA...particularly those in the USA. No UK official would have the guts though.

Why don't they just do the same as Iraq and Afghanistan and send the troops in?
