Default Any wrestling fans in the house?

Just learned of the passing of Jim Hellwig aka The Ultimate Warrior ... sad news especially after only appearing on a wrestling show (Raw) a couple of days ago

Yes a search on the Internet of dead wrestlers brings back memories of many I used to watch when I was in my peak 15/20 years ago or watching tv
Too many steriods and drug over dozes and then the odd suicide too

The best ones rock and stone cold got out at the right time and did movies

They all seem to hit middle age and drop dead.

You either like it or you don't. Everybody knows the story lines are fake and the matches are pre-determined and the punches / holds are faked but you cannot fake the actual wrestling and falling off the top of a cage through a table - these wrestlers are athletes and the amount of physical punishment they put their bodies through for peoples entertainment has to be admired and applauded.

It's a multi-billion dollar company so they must be doing something right.

All it is is entertainment for people a little light in the head, it couldn't even be classed as sport because sport is competative and not predetermined.

I disagree, I think anything that requires physical exertion is a sport - things like darts and snooker aren't a sport in my opinion.

haha im not a wrestler (altho people say i look like kane)

my father took me to see summerslam 92 @ wembley and i was only 12 and i fooking loved it.yes its fake but so is nearly everything else on tv these days.......and where else can you see a bra & pantie match

they are entertainers at the end of the day and bring smiles to millions of people around the world and they also do alot for certain charities so in my eyes its a good thing.

its a shame that many die so young, seems rather unfair that after bringing joy to millions of people around the world they die young.i fully respect them for what they do.

r.i.p
