my tyre came off my rim after WCT4
#1
As some people on the WCT4 know I went over a large stone whilst on the run today. Stopped the car to check all 4 tyres for damage and could not find any. Carried on the run for approx 30 miles, had lunch and continued on my way home. Cruising home at about 50 to 60mph after about another 30 miles came up to a slow moving car. Started to overtake it, doing about 50mph, there was a loud noise, the car became difficult to steer and the brakes didnt work much. My front offside tyre came off the rim! Meanwhile there was a car coming the other way. Managed to pull over without incident and the tyre was off one edge of the rim and basically the other rim was running on the middle of the tyre. Loads and loads of smoke and mouse (aka rally tyres) like bits on the road. Changed to wheel and looked for any previous damage to the tyre like a bulge or cut but could find any. Wheel rim looks thankfully undamaged. Best guess is it was a slow puncture that suddenly went. Thinking could have been a lot worse if I was doing 90 on the motorway.
Thanks to Boomer and Charlie whisky for another great route

Never mind the M'way it might have given up on the run to the pub!
It was bad enough looking for soft a spot in the hedge when Neil was wagging his rear without you chucking debris at me
Seriously, glad you're OK m8, as u say might have been much worse.

Thanks to everyone for making the weekend what it was. Alot of hard work was put in by two certain individuals and every bit of it was enjoyed by all (as can be seen from the photos).
Can't wait for the next one and terry will hopefully sporting a Focus RS. If he can put up with us lot again

add to the damage tally...........
Driving back, nearly home I heard a scraping noise on application of the brakes, got out to take a look, one of my rear pads had worn away, metal plate contacting disc - nice!
I had checked them the week before when I swapped my fronts! Looks like they had a workout over the weekend!

Guess you broke the seal on the tyre hitting that rock Slider
Glad to hear you are OK, and the damage is restricted to the tyre It could have been a lot worse if it had happened on the route some of those drops were rather big!

"Hooked" a ditch and need the l/front refurbed.
Don't really constitute damage, scuffed the rim and some bits towards the centre. With all that circumference, why does the bit with the OZ logo always get hit?

I'll bring a black marker next time so she can draw some grooves on, I'm sure they will be gone by then.
In the interest of performance, rumour has it she's just trying to reduce the unsprung weight.
(I believe she's trying the same technique on her clutch too)

Yep, next will be the windows followed by the panels - (unfaired ) I would go for wheel removal, but might struggle with moving
Next the back seats and that fecking big spoiler A nice lightweight Cusco one would be nice
(Before I get moaned at, I am only joking )

Well my n/s brake pad got down to the wear indicator on Saturday (after almost catching fire at one point! )
Now the offside pad is squeeking!!
Good excuse to upgrade to something a bit better methinks!

banshi, I struggle to get it out of second, let alone contemplate thrid or above
Unlike you who has difficulty pressing the right pedal - it does move you know - the effect of pressing it tends to move the car too

2500's definately get my vote, fitted them (on the front) last week, along with some Castrol response super dot 4, both held out amazingly well, no fade or boiling, made the little one pots surprisingly good.

Hoses will be the next thing to do.
Now I have 4-pots with 'proper' discs & pads, I hope that they will go some way to improving the brakes. Feel a lot better after 5 miles, but I'm aware of the extra benefits of braided hoses
