Question Any Ideas

Rich has had a look and not been able to find anything obvious...

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...-stalling.html

Any other ideas as to what it might be or do I need to fit a stroker

Can be just bad injector or bad batch of fuel?

Couple of different tanks of fuel now, might swap out the fuel filter but not home for long so might have to wait until next weekend

Fuel filter swapped, MAF changed and ECU reset and it will still stall. I'll run it over the next couple of days to see if it settles on the run and give the ECU time to relearn any tolerances. I also changed the front O2 sensor a year or so back so not sure what to look at next

The main fusible link? check it for corrosion, if manky buy a new one, they can induce wierd poor running.
and +1 on the earths.

at least they're easy n cheap to do!

Have the injectors been checked/ulrasonic clean, are the seals ok?

I'm assuming the main fusible link is the 80A one in the fuse box - it looks immaculate

I have had a couple of TGV codes and an injector code a while back, all on the same cylinder but I can't remember which one - the TGV fault always comes when I remove the alternator and the injector fault was cleared and never came back - earth is sounding likely.

Injectors are the original ones so the seals should be good as they have not been disturbed.

The most confusing bit is the fact it is so intermittent, it will stall once on a run but generally if I am coasting and have come off boost. If I've driven off boost and am coasting to a junction etc it's fine.

I might just have to advance the next stage of upgrades which includes all new hoses, VF34, TGV delete and fitting of my grounding kit

Hi Jon

no error codes?

Have you removed TGV error code?

I've at home our old WRX injectors which we can bring you.

Are you checked for any leaks?

Fault codes were cleared months back and have not returned. I've got a set of pinks ready to go in - no leaks so I'll need to gather a last few bits and start the upgrade then see what happens

Hi Jon,

Well this has got us scratching our heads

2.1 stroker is a massive investment.....especially if the initial diagnosis isnt correct!

When looking at the fusible link, did you remove it to see if it was corroded where it connects or was it a visual of what you could see at the fusebox?
I only ask as Ive heard of someone who had poor running and it turned out to be this after they had spent a small fortune on MAFs O2 swapped ECU etc.

Maybe worth a really good check - apologies if you have done so already - just dont want you wasting £££

Maybe throw on the earthing kit and clean all other earthing points to see if that helps.

Have you done any other electrical work recently, (just before this all began?) maybe recheck it for chaffed wiring.

Coil packs - if you can borrow a known good set and swap out?
throw new plugs in just to rule them out.

Hope its tracked and sorted soon, intermittent stuff is a real bugger to trace.

Didn't remove the link, but the inside of the whole fusebox looks like new. O2 sensor was shot, that kept throwing the fault code so was changed when the car was mapped (2-years ago now). I picked up a brand new genuine MAF for £30 I'll probably try the CAM sensor next as that fault code has appeared in the past. All the earthing points look good. The only thing I have done is remove the aircon pump so nothing that should chaff

Plugs and coil packs will get checked next weekend when I get a moment and I'll pull the link and have a good look over it

For the cost I might just swap it over and see what happens
