My S202 - The Ideal Replacement For My Spec C
Not long after the breaking of my Spec C was completed I was trying to find a suitable replacement albeit this car was going to be staying largely unmodified except for a few choice modifications.
I was really in two minds as to whether to stick with the Subaru marque, and nearly came close to going over to the dark side - either Mitsubishi or possibly even Porsche.
After seeing that Stu (53) had recently bought an S202 I then thought about getting another one, my first choice being in yellow but they are as rare as rocking horse poo and there being none available at that time anyway.
Stu told me that Brave Auto International in Japan had bought one for stock after being impressed by the car they sourced for Stu. I then got in touch with Brave Auto UK and Tom then arranged to have some pics taken which he then sent onto me plus the Japanese auction report.
I was amazed by the brilliant condition of the car as it was 11 years old, don't get me wrong it's not faultless but it only requires a few minor paintwork jobs to be carried out.
So I then spoke to Tom and agreed an OTR in the UK price, and the deal was done.
I have been waiting for quite a while for the car to turn up in the UK, it arrived on the 7th of October, it cleared customs on the 8th and was collected on the 9th. It had to have rear fog lamps integrated into the JDM lamps, it was then taken for a standard VOSA test which it passed with flying colours with not even an advisory.
As it stands today the customs clearance documents from HMRC have been received and tomorrow the registration and first tax disc will be applied for, so hopefully (fingers crossed) if the DVLA pull their finger out I could be in the car in around a fortnight.
Once I pick the car up it will be going to Ryan (Prodriverules) for the paintwork issues to be addressed plus a full major service, plus some choice modifications to be carried out. None of the modifications will in any way take away from what the car is, one of them will obviously be a remap for UK fuel.
Here are some pics which Tom @ Brave Auto UK took for me today, he had to take them in a small gap in the weather when it wasn't raining.

Lovely Subaru Tye, like everyone else I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh
When I registered my STI a few months ago I took all the paperwork down to DVLA local office in Cardiff and temporary reg document and tax disc were back with me within a few days so fingers crossed it'll be sooner than the 2 weeks your expecting

I am not sure yet Jon, it will be hard to say but I know I haven't got the Ohlins suspension that Stu had with his.
I know I have a lovely Japanese lady waiting to talk / annoy me every time I get in the car though.
Thanks Micky, as it happens I am now going on the train from Leominster to Leeds so I can get back home once I drop the car off with Ryan.
I do appreciate the offer though it was most kind, you Sir are a true gent.

It would be nice to attend the shows at Castle Combe and further afield in my own car next year.
Thanks, it never ceases to amaze me the condition of most of the JDM cars imported into the UK.
That's all I can think is that is they have a very strict annual test over there, and the auction reports are far better and in depth than we can expect over here as well.

Only good ones Extra ££££ parts I wasn't expecting to be there.
Tom at BraveAuto did say Ty's one was far easier to drive on the road with a normal clutch and suspension, which I can believe
I think myself and Ty have been extremely fortunate to get the cars we wanted as they have met our needs and purposes precisely. Blind luck on my part as I was expecting a standard car where as what I have ended up with is a lot of the extra parts I was expecting to have to buy for track.
It's saved me a lot of cash Twin plate clutch/LWFW and the STi quickshift representing nearly £2k in UK money ! The Ohlins are a $3800 part from Rally Sport Direct just to name a few of the bits I found
Can't wait to get them together for Uxbridge or Rally Day next year
Would recommend Tom and BraveAuto to anyone

So it would have be Shank's pony for me anyway.
Not at the moment, but you never know there will be a few more to come yet.

I've no idea how it compares to the original spec. and what makes it special. A fancy wing and a bit more power isn't special.
Its OK, I'll Google it rather than entertain a conversation and hear the views of the people who own one
