Default My classic turbo (carbon wrap has come out to play)

Well I have had her now for about a week been sourcing parts to get her sorted out so took a few pics before she undergoes some changes.

She will be getting a good service next weekend, all oils changed including diff and box, coolant change and new plugs.

Not really sure on spec of her apart from she has a chav dump valve (going soon) and 3 inch turbo back exhaust, she isn't the cleanest classic you will see but she is straight and engine and box is strong. And I got her for a straight swap of my 180k mile b5 passat.

Sorry for poor image quality but my s3 camera is having a strop recently for some reason

Plans ATM are as follows.

Bonnet carbon wraped with silver scoops
Roof will be wrapped to match.
Boot possibly wrapped (not decided yet)
Rims will be refurbed white or gold again not decided
Either going for spolierless or mid level spoiler (anyone who wants current one let me know)
Colour coded mirrors
Bung to shut exhuast up a bit
Oh an need 2 drivers side doors and bumper in 406 silver as ATM some point she's had paint on these items and its crap match

Then get her up to scoobyworld in loughboro for a once over and maybe trip on rollers to see what's going of with her.

Plenty of scope for some tinkering there - not sure about the whole 2-tone thing on light cars

I am aswell tbh but with wrap if I go off it I can just remove it, if I'm honest I probably won't keep it very long 6months max while I save the cash for a bug eye

Right then decided to wrap the bonnet last night at 8pm thinking it would only take. Few hours top. Finished at 2am lol.

Any here's pic of old bonnet satin black and not very nice.

Removed bonnet and started wrap at 8.15

Slowly getting there but having a nightmare with creases and bubbles.

Almost done at this point black coffee had stopped working

And fitted back on the car this morning.

Got a few imperfections in it so will be probably re do it at a later date but its not bad to say its the first attempt at wrapping a panel.

So you are getting rid of the chav dump valve and replacing it with a chav pretend carbon look blue peter style sticky back plastic wrap.

Funnily enough I was going to write the same thing! Just seems strange to say chavvy dump valve, then wrap the bonnet in carbon look

Lol each to there own, I don't actually think carbon wrapped bonnets are chavy same with roofs (before the Scoob I have only had vws and wrapped bonnets ect are not considered chav, same with bonnet bras ect, I could have been really bad and just sanded it back and let it rust)

Also its a aluminium bonnet so probably doesn't way that much more than a carbon bonnet anyway. Just a fraction of the cost

Dump valves just make a **** noise like a bloody double decker bus and more often than not upset the running of a car.

Pluss its a hell of a lot cheaper then re-spraying my bonnet silver.

I personally think it looks o.k and like I said above if I get bored of it I can just take it off.

The wrap don't look bad tbh, but IMO carbon bonnets, boots, roof etc look so much better against black! There not so in your face, more subtle

Good on you mate for having a go, looks like you've done a good job and if you like it thats the main thing.

Oh and welcome to Impreza ownership, the more things you can do yourself (servicing etc) the more satisfying ownership will be, and you'll save yourself a bomb!

Well done

I agree, but subtle and impreza are not 2 words that normally go well together

My plan when I first got her was to take her back to oem- loose the bonnet for a non scooped sport job no rear spoiler, and then drop her low onto some 18s but they just look wrong and naked without spoiler scoops ect

Subtle and Impreza do go together, but then its pretty boring lol
My classic in my eyes is pretty boring tbh as it just looks like standard and outside it pretty much is apart from side repeaters and it did have bumper/side skirt spats on it. But the exhaust is changed (looks a little standard like from the twin pipe) but is very loud and it isn't standard under the bonnet as its pushing 1.4bar but I have no idea as to what's been done to it as it was like it when I bought it. Just wished I had some funds to spend on it and make it look similar to my last scooby

The thing with loosing the front scoops is more like a wolf in sheeps clothing look lol

No pictures but have just fitted 2 new drop links and anti roll bar bushes.

It's amazing how much small things can change a car turn in is so much better and car feels a lot more precise.

And as for exhuast bung my god is it quite now perfect for everyday use, and can be quickly removed when I fancy a more enthusiastic drive. Only down side is I have now found out I have a noisey rear wheel bearing (couldn't hear it when exhuast bung wasn't in).

Also identified the springs are pi 35mm jobys so will be ordering some eibach and new kybs later in the month.
