Have been thinking of doing this for a while now, and after seeing Frayz's last week thought i'd do it.
Basically it is a rear spoiler for a E46 3 series BMW fitted to the rear edge of the STI spoiler.
A few guys from the States have fitted these and swear by them.... only seen one on a UK car (Frayz)
Jury is still out. Looks good on a black car, not sure if it suits a silver one or not.
Unfortunatley either my measurements were slightly out, or they cut it too short, as it isn't quite as long as i wanted, so i may replace it.
If i decide i don't like it then it'll come off easily enough.
It would blend in better if sprayed silver, but perhaps that would defeat the object as you wouldn't notice it. I like it but it is too short by an inch.
Mines been on about 7 years now and always loved it. Stops a lot of high speed chatter through the upper aerofoil on the rear wing.
And it's also my nod to cars such as the RS500.
Get one the correct length and I think they look superb.
I wasn't aware they came in different lengths....knew they were for the E36 and that was that.
Mines been on for about a year now, left it black as it does match the Perrin Stiffies.
I think it finishes off the spoiler nicely, gives it something you might not notice at first...a good mod to do.
Perrin wing stiffys will stop it deforming at least, + matter of taste if you like them or not I guess, be interested to know how much more planted the car felt in the fast twisty's
I'd be amazed if this type of addition had a tangible benefit to cornering stability due to the speeds required to make downforce work.
I imagine there would be bigger gains to be had at high speed runs though, I'm sure there's a video floating around of a Scoob or an Evo doing an airfield run without a spoiler (as it was flexing on a previous run) and when he comes off the gas at >170, the back just flips round on him and he goes into one scary-*** spin!
