Project R has gone- Long live Type R (2)
Well after selling my shell to Dan aka Kirstybumx3 a couple of weeks ago I picked up my new car on the weekend! I spent a long time looking for the right car, even toyed with an RS4 B7 but wasn't viable as I'm buying a house!
A few factors had to be considered, it had to be a V5 as my mrs bought me a plate to go on my Project and is an S plate, it had to be as near mint as possible and it had to be White (or cool grey as a second choice)
After trawling PH, eBay, Autotrader and the usual places I was about to give up for a few months but then, randomly, I came across Trovit and instead of searching for UK I decided to try Ireland! And, well, it paid off! www.donedeal.ie have some cracking cars on there, great prices and are pretty well looked after! So, after going through each of the car ads on there with a fine tooth comb, I rang up a guy and had a good chat about his car his reasons for selling, which all seemed very genuine!
He sent me a load of pics of the car, inside and out and also of it starting up and idling here's a few pics
Fast forward 6 weeks to last weekend and I was ready to fly out to Shannon airport with the cash for my new car! I left the UK via Heathrow and was picked up the other end! He was driving his mothers car so when we got to his I could start the car from cold! Had a great crack with him and his mates on the way (getting into a strangers car with a few thousand euros in your pocket was fun )
After looking around the car and doing all te paperwork, we were off to Rosslare to drive though the night arrived back in the UK less than 24hrs after leaving and was chuffed to bits!
Anyway, enough of my waffling, here's a few more pics on the way home
Here's the first mod, a genuine WRX boot decal
I've got my White Brembos off my project fitted, also my old exhaust! So far there's only an Apexi ecu full decat but that it! Will get a remap for UK fuel but my plan is to keep it looking great, will put the OEM rear quarter stickers on too as well as a V6 splitter and obviously a roof vent

Had a good look around this last night and the pictures do show it as it is, very nice classic indeed clean underneath to and with a little guidence Merv and some elbow grease I'm sure this will be a very clean car indeed.
Many thanks for the little drive too it really goes well, engine is smooth and suspension is fantastic I was sure it was on coilovers so had quite a surprise to see it was oem under there.
Spot on Merv this is a great find.

Thanks for all your comments guys, I love the wheels, I had them in 18s for my project and was gutted when I sold them on!
Mags, I got the guys who did the MOT to chuck the brakes on, it'd be rude not too They are great, so much better than the OEM 4 pots, even with standard pads! Will get some Bluestuff or Orangestuff after I bed the discs in a bit more!!

stunning car mate, how hard is it to re-register in the uk?
I've also got a question for the type r guru's. Can the tinted rear windows be removed or is it a factory fit? Personally I think they look a lot cleaner without the rear tints but i'm not sure if its just film on the windows.

I'm pretty sure the tints are film, i've seen some R's where they've started peeling.
