Default Nurburgring Pics

As some of you know I took my first trip to the ring a few weeks ago with my mate and his type-R.

He's just got around to adding a few pics, not the best but here you go...

Can't wait to go back

No more pics I'm afraid as the weather was bad most of the time.

Crossing was £39 return with Norfolk Line to Dunkirk, which is the cheapest and cuts down on about 20 miles of the journey. We stayed at jackies place (hotel Wilhelmshohe) which about 20km from the ring, great for warming up the car before getting there. That cost roughly £65 each for 3 of us in a triple room, isn't as bad as it sounds, that was for 2 nights stay which isn't bad really. Great hotel also I must say, Anger a member on here suggested it to me, he spends a fair bit of time over there and couldn't speak highly enough about it. The ring is €26 a lap? Maybe slightly less or more can't really remember but I just bought a 4 lap card which works out at €90 something, basically you save money so go for that if I was you. I filled up a couple of times to get there, once when I left the uk and once on the continent at roughly £50 a go. There are plenty of fuel stations around the ring and most do high octane at a reasonable price. Lastly do budget for the worst, when things go wrong out there you don't want to be stuck short on money, speaking from a costly trip to the barriers myself. The going rate is roughly €400 per 4 metres or barrier just t give you an idea. Don't let that put a downer on it though, just take it steady and enjoy it.

Hope that helps.

Looks like you had a good time - but then you say you had a costly trip to the barriers; what happened

Yeah, I swerved to avoid something in the road as I came out of a corner and the extra momentum just spat the rear of the car around and I had no chance of catching it so at that point I was just a passenger. Mainly the offside, bumper and headlight that took the impact so got off pretty lightly considering.

Speaking to jackie (who owned the hotel we were in) she also said I got off lightly with the bill, I asked why and she said a chap the other week had to pay out €50,000. Lightly indeed.

Still can't wait to go back!

I wonder how they enforce the bill? That barrier cost is something that would make me nervous about driving the ring.

I was over there for the Easter bank holiday weekend, had a great time.

Have you checked out any of the sites of the photographers who sit at the side of the track and snap all the cars passing? I found a couple of me on www.highspeedfotos.de

I did look through the lists of photographers but none of me just my mates type-r. I am in a video though, some chap in a rapid seat Leon Cupra-r filmed his lap. You see me for a few corners before he catches up and I pull over to let him past.

Yeah I was doing a whole lot of pulling over to let things past...

Went out in the BMW M5 'ring taxi, that showed me and my mates how to do it properly!
