Default Nick's Type R so far.

Hi. I've had this STI Type R V3 for a few years now so thought i'd do a little write up to share with you guys and girls, I've done a few bits to it now so thought I'd share my progress with you. I'm planing to keep the car for some time so it's a slow moving project. After owning a 96' wrx in the past I couldn't wait to own another and had always had my heart set on the STI Type R.
When I first got this car as a fresh import it had very low mileage and only had one owner in Japan so was in excellent condition. It had a very rare optional genuine STI roll cage fitted. As far as I know it's the one in the country with this option. Apart from that it was a completely standard unmolested example.

The day I picked it up.Name: Thedayigotitv3sti.jpg

First mods like most was the exhaust. I went for the Afterburner vortex full decat and a k&n panel filter. Then wanted to get it mapped to make sure it was running ok on 99ron. As you can't remap the standard v3 ecu I fitted the Apexi power fc and commander then had it mapped by Simon at JGM and it was running 310bhp.
I was happy how it was running so it was time for some new wheels. I've always liked the look of the p1 so when a set of 18" p1 alloys come up for sale I snapped them up then had them all refurbished and fitted with lightweight nuts. With the 18" on it was sitting a bit high so Lowered it on BC coilovers and 4 wheel Lasor alignment.
I've always seen the P1 as a watered down Type r for the UK Market with softer steering, softer suspention, longer gearing, no DCCT, no intercooler spray etc. I guess the car I'm hoping for in the end is the best of both worlds, all the benefits from the JDM Type R but the looks of the UK P1.

I felt the front end could do with a freshen up so fitted STI foglight covers, lightly smoked side repeaters and late spec grill.

Then it was time to squeeze some more power out of it so fitted a Hybrid GT2 FMIC and K&N induction along with a 255 fuel pump and another remap it was now running 340bhp on the dyno. This was now the almost on the limits of the stock turbo, engine and gearbox.

Now running 340bhp It was time for some more stopping power so fitted some Ksport 8pots 356cm with yellowstuff pads and grooved rear discs with performance pads. The stopping power was next level and very pleased with the results.

Happy with the brakes, suspention, engine, I turned to some more styling cosmetics bits. After searching for some time I found a mint P1 rear spoiler, luckily didn't have to get it sprayed as it was the same Sonic blue. Late spec crystal headlights, Rare sti7 high level scoop and 22b vents.

Thanks for the comments.
^ Very pleased with the K sports and Yellow pads, Much better than the old 4pots. I think i should upgrade the rears next as still using the little 2 pots.
CS- the mats were just a cheap ebay set, £25 i think. Good quality for the price.

Finally got the car out the garage after giving it an 18 month rest. I few things needed attention.
It had an MOT, Full Service, Front cv gaiters, new battery, 4 new tyres, 4 wheel alignment, full Nur specR exhaust, replaced split turbo hose with samco and replaced split up pipe with a 'Harvey trick uppipe'., she's now running better than ever and so nice to have it back on the road.
Facelift bumper with P1 splitter going to paint shop next week. I'll get some pictures up when it's done.

Some pics of the roll cage. The only downside is no space for sun visors.
