But the coolant overflow and washer bottle caps seem to flake off because they bend when you remove them to top things up but as long as you are careful they'll be ok. I use a primer and a clear coat too.

Been thinking about different ways sort out the yellow filler caps & when i get time im going to try to make some covers to go over them.
The plan is to vacuum form some thermoplastic over the top of the existing screw top covers, in effect giving a black plastic cover.
Any thoughts on this ?

OK I gave the plastic paint a go and so far I am very pleased with it, Tested it quickly on a old yellow oil cap just to see how well it works.
Very quick test and I am sure the finish could be improved with a few more coats of primer and a little more time taken. I have given it a good scrub and tried to pick it off with the nail and its solid, so far so good.
