Default I'm back with a new Scooby!

Hi All,

My name is Stu, I'm 31 and here's my story

I got my first Impreza about 3 years ago, it was a 94 WRX, a bit ropey and had obviously been about a bit but it gave me an insight into Impreza ownership.

When I got rid of that I bought an ST200 which for the whole time I owned it was an outstanding vehicle, never broke down, apart from fuel was very cheap to run. Recently tho I got the urge to get back into an Impreza, the missus has her own family sized car and I use my bike for work so now was the time to get back into an Impreza.

I decided I wanted a UK one this time, considerably cheaper to insure. Originally I also wanted a standard one but as you will see thats sort of gone out the window.

Firstly I bought it with a none functioning speedo/odometer so is in limp home mode, boost great up til 4.5k RPM then the brick wall, although I've only hit it once.

Also I'm aware buying a car with this sort of fault is risky business but I'm an EQA Technician for Cummins Engines so I'm fairly handy with a set of spanners and theres no job too big for me to do. The car was too good to pass up on for the money.

Anyway, heres my car:

1998 Turbo 2000 Terzo No.112
A silly amount of history, every bill, MOT, Tax disc, purchase, service, everything in 2 laminated folders
Magnex decat
Magnex full S/S exhaust
PiiperX Induction kit
Bailey dump valve (bit too PSSSHHHHy for my liking so might be getting changed)
Remapped to an apparent 260BHP but I'm very very sceptical of this

P1 front splitter
P1 rear spoiler
Morette Headlight conversion (am keeping these now but still after some crystals)
STi fog lamp covers
STi mud flaps
STi Rear Clusters
V7/8 STi bonnet scoop
Smaller side scoop
18" Compomotive MO6 with 215/40/18 Falkens

P1 seats

Tracker fitted and activated

Overall I'm very happy with the car, drives extremely tight, no knocks or bangs and is surprisingly quiet at cruising speed.

Needs the new gearbox speed sensor and the brake fluid desperately needs changing but nothing major at all.

First 2 pics are mine, other are from the previous owner.

Looks tidy, lets hope that the fault is an easy fix and nothing terminal has occurred prior to you picking it up

I'm 99.9% sure its the sensor, odometer not counting up and no speedo. Haven't had the sensor out but looks untouched, no signs of it being removed recently. If its no the sensor then I'll keep looking but the car drives fine just without the boost!

Is there not many of us on the site?

Bonnet scoop, well it does help fulfil my Gran Turismo boyhood dreams of yesteryear!

Out of curiosity did you notice a considerable difference between Terzo insurance and normal Turbo 2000, there was about £300 in it for me, a little over 600 notes with all mods declared and 4000 miles a year!

nah probably about another one lurking somewhere but think he sold is.

didn't see much off a difference in insurance costs. Aviva are without a doubt ripping me off.

Mine is running about 265bhp with an apexi ecu

What the model of the ECU, once I've changed the oils and fitted the 4 pot brakes I'll be looking at a remap as the current mods will really benefit from it, I realise the standard ECU can't be remapped.

theres only one type of apexi ecu. just depends if its 3 or 4 pin plugs.

I got 4pots and best mod ever as its improved the braking a lot.

lovely looking Terzo. Love the wheels. I also own a terzo and the insurance is way cheaper than a normal UK 2000!

Cheers guys,

Took it out for a spin now I've fitted a new gearbox speed sensor and it feels every bit as good as it should do. Pulls strongly and handles like a dream, even in this terrible rain we've had. Going to check the suspension as it feels very firm but not crashy, all I can see at the moment is the strut casings are red but will investigate further when I have the wheels off as I don't think it's standard but nothing is mentioned in the history.

Nice scoob you got there.

Only thing for me would be to remove the bonnet scoops and get them back to standard.
