Her indoors' new motor
We worked out that by selling the my Scooby, buying a cheap fun car (Westfield V8) and replacing her petrol Focus, we would save at least £350 per month (excluding all the "essential" mods and maintenance that you find need doing each month !!)
So she got a 3 door, 2 litre diesel Golf Match Bluemotion, with black leather. With her (and my !) driving style it should average 70mpg. Free tax year 1, then £30, free servicing for 3 years, and a good deal on purchase
It will also tow the Westie to take on holiday
(Done holidays in Lotus 7's back in the 70's - need more luggage space now !)
Still running in, but with 240 ft-lbs (not yet unleashed) it should go well.
And I suppose it could always be chipped eventually "for extra fuel economy" to give 180BHP, 280 ft-lbs (IIRC).
Yes I know it needs hoovering !!

I love Golfs Stan, my wife has run Golfs for the last 8 years or so and started out with a mark 2 GTI 16 valve, did the mark 3 VR6 thing and for the last 5 and a half years has been running an amazing mark 3 GTI 16 valve.
They aren't necessarily my cup of tea for fun but it's reliable as hell and for a trip to the shops or Cornwall I'd take it over my scoob
Looks great in white with the black leather My wife's last 2 have had leather and her GTI is 15 years old with 170k on the clock the leather still looks great!
