I'll take one Cliff, I remember you sending me a pic of your work in progress and I thought it looked good. I've been through a few different reverse vents in my time and this looks far better than what I've got presently.

Just a thought there is a member on here who owns a carbon fibre moulding company, perhaps at joint venture if I might be so bold...

does a reverse vent get enough air? surely a normal scoop gets a lot more

It's for cars running a front mounted intercooler, so you don't need the scoop.

Normally fitted with a FMIC, and to release hot air out

Plus the reverse vent helps to draw hot air out of the engine bay due to the pressure difference between the air flowing over the bonnet and the hot air in the engine bay.

It looks like the things people had over their rear windows of their Capri's in the late 70's Nice work making it yourself though! Are you planning on tidying it up and painting it?

I`m glad you like the look of it Ty. This is only a "trial run" at the moment. Ive got to see how it gets on once fixed in place and its been painted and heats up a bit.. If it goes well then I may look into making a batch of 10 or so.

Ah, the old Mk1 Capri, I remember it well (I had a 3.0ltr v6). I was cutting out the slots yesterday when the dremel broke.. Its a trip to B&Q today for a new one, then finish the mould, prime, paint and fit. I will put up a few pictures when its finished, to get peoples thoughts again.

Although there is the counter argument that by leaving the scoop it will cool the FMIC pipework and funnel air down the transmission tunnel dragging the hot air with it whilst also adding some cooling to the transmission, especially if the undertrays are still fitted; either way once the FMIC is fitted both have their pro's and con's

Back on track, looks like some neat work, I assume this will fit using the standard scoop mounting points

It will, yes. Im not sure if I will use all the fixing point though, as it wont be taking the strain that a standard tmic scoop has to cope with.

I may do. I want to run this one on the car for a few months, check it stays in shape and works right.(just waiting for the rain to stop, then I will fit it.) If I do, I`ll let you know, but I can assume you like what you see then,,,,Thanks

Your wish is my command

Its only the first one and it needs alot of "tweeks" here and there, but Ive fitted it to see how the vains hold up and to see if there are any temperature issues. Still, its progressing

Do you have any pics of it from a distance? Also, do you have a rough idea of cost if you start selling them? PM me if you prefer

Regards

No pictures from a distance, but I`ll take a couple and put them up later.
Its only been on a couple of days and I want to make sure it keeps its shape well and doesnt effect the engine in any way. For now its a "one-off" but if it works well, I may look into making more. Sorry, not a clue what they would cost to produce at this moment in time....
