Highlanders MY03 STi Type UK
Hi everyone,
My name is David, I'm 27y old and I live in Belgium. Since May 1st, I consider myself a Subaru owner.
As the titel says, i own a RHD MY03 STi Type UK. After searching for about 4-5 months, i came across this one in the UK. I've done the import myself and currently i'm waiting to ged the technical approval to be done.
The car however came with some mods. Mods which are only partially allowed here in Belgium so I had to start searching some OEM equipment (later more about that).
So here she is, specs are below
Specs:
- 2.0l with bigger turbo setup (SC46)
- 361bhp @ 20psi (1.4bar)
Engine mods:
- K&N typhoon induction (will be replaced but has no priority)
- Wallbro fuel pomp
- SSI Unequal lenght headers
- Catless downpipe 3"
- Catless midpipe 2.5"
- Japstyle muffler with 4" tip
- SC 38 turbo (Scoobyclinic)
- ECUTEK remap (by Scoobyclinic)
- SC Hybrid dump valve
- Front cold air feed
- Uprated semi stiff clutch (should be able to handle up to 500bhp)
Suspension:
- 32 way adjustable Race Logic coilover
- Front camber plates
- Tarox brake discs in front
- EBC red/yellow brake pads (fr/rear)
As for the parts that aren't allowed here in Belgium, I have to replace the exhaust and the suspension. Since it's a RHD, I also need to change the headlights so they have the correct image
Plans:
- Get it streetlegal in belgium!! (prio nr 1)
- Suspension mods for time to time track (ab)use
- Engine checkup to see if i have any or anomalies
- Refubishing the OZ Prodrives
- Some engine mods after the check up
This will be done over the years. I have no intention to rush and install everything at once. I want to be able to drive the car, enjoy it, learn to know it's handling and performance and make sure i can handle it
That's all for now folks
Highlander out!

Thx all!
@ JonMc: For now, OEM suspension will be installed for technical approval. Once that's done, the Race Logic will be put back on the car and adjusted properly! The Race Logic will be put up for sale if I decide to change to KW Var3, which could be in less than a year or so
@ w44syf: Engine mods will be done once I'm 100% sure the engine is running safe. Paul Blamire will be my reference to accomplish that goal. As I see it, no engine mods will be done in 2012. I prefer spending some money on engine monitoring and suspension upgrades
I also need to do the respray of some parts, which will take some time as well. Details and little issues need to be solved, technical approval awaits so I hope having the car roadlegal by mid november. This might sound like a lot of time, but i'll be spending next 2 months in Africa. This means I still have about 3 weeks to get everything done.

After a month of silence due to being in Africa, I restarted working on the scooby yesterday
Technical approval must be done by the end of next week so I decide to install the stock suspension.
Status yesterday noon:
Just to prove I actually did something
Dirteeeh:
Forester mode:
Today I swapped the exhaust as well. All cats are back and the backbox is a Prodrive one. This should do to pass next week

Haha, thx! Self-levitation would be cool actually Should spare my the time jacking it up manually
Wish me luck Tomorrow's D-Day
In the mean time, some goodies have arrived/ have been picked up as well
The thing every scooby should have:
Also bought an extra set of wheels & tires for trackdays only. Will probably mount them on the car next years when I refurbish my OZ Prodrive's.
More to come!

Green card received from technical approval service!!
Last friday I cleaned the coilovers and mounted them back on the scooby. Forestermode disabled
Before:
After:
I was planning on disassembling them completely so I could adjust them to my preference. Unfortunately, some of the rings were so tight we weren't able to loosen them For now, the coils are back the way they were.. After winter I order some new rings and give the coilovers a full revision
Tomorrow I'll put back the catless exhaust and install the Grimmspeed heat shield (after some adjustments I think ). The Hella's will be installed as well

Thx dude!!
Today I replaced the OEM exhaust. The fully catless exhaust has been put back under the car. The only thing I didn't change was the back box. I wanted a nice and brutal sound of the boxer engine, not some screamy loud pipe that brings up a headache after 10min of driving I was happy to hear the Prodrive granted that wish! Inside the car you can hear the rumble and it's lovely when putting the pedal to the metal. Outside, it's discrete and 'silent'. I'm quit happy with the result
Now, my turbo heat shield had disappeared after the change of turbo (I guess, see previous owner), so I needed a new one. OEM wouldn't fit because of the bellmouth so I got myself a Grimmspeed. I did forget one thing dough, I have a RHD... so the shield wouldn't fit either It was already to late when I realised that and I decided to MAKE it fit
Original (nice & shiny):
After modif:
Installed:
The 'amount' of heat I felt on top of the hood has decreased a lot now! This means the shield does what it is supposed to do and I believe it will have a positive influence on the TMIC temperature as well
I also wanted to install the Supertones today but my power steering cooler needs to be replaced/removed. I didn't have the time to do that, so the Hella's have to stay a little longer in their box..

It's been a while again, some small updates now
Paperwork has been done, this weekend I can take the car for his first official spin on Belgian roads Me happy!!
In the mean time, I ordered some parts in Holland.
1) OEM STi V-limited-style front lip => previous owner trashed it and I think it looks lovely so I ordered a new one This time, it's made of PU, so bending, scraping,... it won't affect the lip.
Example:
2) S204 shift ****. Wasn't really my intention to buy it, but it just looks a lot nicer than the original one
More to come!

** Blowing dust away **
Long time no update, but we got back in action last week
First of all: the car is fully registered on Belgian license plates!!
Second: updates!!
- Front lip arrived day after I ordered it, but because I was afraid of it coming too low on the car (didn't want to play snow plow), I hadn't mounted it yet. Last week, perfect occasion:
- 'Subaru' logo on the truck was already removed by previous owner (rather sloppy) so I decided the rest should go as well. Just kept the STi logo .
- Testfit of the 17x8 trackwheels:
Plenty of space in the wheel arches so I'll probably lower it a bit more (3/4")
- And last but not least, some goodies arrived as well:
1) Eibach swaybars:
2) Kartboy Endlinks and Subframe lock bolts
3) Stoptech steel brake lines:
Next up:
- Fitting stuff mentioned above
- Mounting Hella's
- ...

Here we are again!
Had some time of last couple of weeks so I decided to 'continue' the work on the STi.
First, I gave it another attempt to install the Hella Supertones which went pretty well
Wiring harness was made from scratch but went easy and it's nicely tucked away as well. Bloody h*ll, they're loud!!
Next thing to do: interior works!
Managed to get almost every part needed to do a center console swap to the later MY05 version.
Before:
During:
After:
Quite happy with the result. Looks newer, feels newer, works like a charm Only minor issue is the ebrake... I'll need the 05 version of that as well to make is fit like it should
Update to do next:
Turbo pressure controlled intercooler waterspray

David this is coming along a treat! Love the newer dash, prefer that to the one I got. What is the ebrake?
And when are you coming over to show it off
