Hello guys, I have shamlessly copied this over from Surrey Scoobies

Righty, following on from my earlier thread in "chatter" http://www.surreyscoobies.co.uk/foru...950#post424950

OK so I was ready at Halfords when they opened at 09:02 this morning having had a rather tasty double sausage and egg McMuffin with OJ.

In there, I bought myself:

Megs NXT Wash & Wax Kit
Turtlewax Clay kit x 2
AG bodywork Conditioner
Megs Ultimate Wash & Wax
Megs Hot Rims wheel cleaner
Megs alloy wheel brush

Cost me 90 of my good English pounds. :shrug:

So after Halfords had finished with the KY and I had pulled my trowsers back up, I scooted off to my dear nan & grandads to begin what turned out to be a 7 hour cleaning "sesh".

Reason being for said "sesh" is partly because it had been 5 months or so since my last proper detail and partly because the old girl had just ticked past 60k miles :chug: I drink to that. Water though because I'm ****ing dehydrated now.

Oh my god, just checked my phone and the total uploaded pics is 32. I will do all of them, then remove (if necessary) after I can see what they look like on the screen - mobile screens no good really, too small.

Anyhoo.

The process I used was this - if I can remember exactly.

01. Jet wash using the spinny nozzel - hurts my skin this one, nasty
02. Hand was using Megs wash mitten and AG Bodywork Conditioner
03. Rince using jetwash
04. Hand dry using microfibre cloths
05. Clay entire car
06. Hand was using Megs wash mitten and AG Bodywork Conditioner (less potent mix of AG though this time)
07. Hand dry using microfibre cloths
08. Soak wheels with Megs Hot Rims, leave for a while, brush off and rince with jetwash
09. Hand apply AG Super Resin Polish
10. Buff off using DA polisher
11. Apply Megs NXT Tech Wax using the applicator supplied.
12. Buff off using microfibre cloth (no DA)
13. Apply AG Vinal & Rubber Care to all outside black trim, door rubbers, bonnet/boot rubbers etc
14. Clean out door sills, shuts and the fuel filler bit
15. Clean all glass and lights with AG Fast Glass
16. Clean engine bay with AG Vinal and Rubber Care.
17. Treat tyres with AG Vinal and Rubber Care
16. Clean door cards etc with AG Vinal and Rubber Care
17. Take photos, ache like ****.

I didn't hoover because to be honest I couldn't be arsed and it wasn't that dirty anyway. Come to think of it the car wasn't that dirty either but hey ho.

Claying it produced little dirt, compared to last time, so that works well.

Shocking eh? Oh and by the way, the Megs wash & Wax I bought is to be used in place of the AG Bodywork Conditioner inbetween waxing sessions. The AG will be used prior to waxing sessions as per today.

Now onto the afters...































































All in all, a successfull day but very very tired now! Next up is a visit to SSS next weekend to see Dan for a 60k service and have the rear shocks stripped and packed with fresh grease for I have the dreaded knock going on.

Well done for keep on going mate, 7 hours is impressive. I gave up after 3 hours, I'll be polishing tomorrow

Depends if you a female or male... and are you fit? (would help a lot) I'm notg that fit but I scrub up alright and most blind people don't mind me at all Cheers

I did struggle, I did. It is a little bit of a ballache.

As above... If I'd of had a garage I would probably stretch it out over the weekend but I have to suffer! Enjoy finishing yours off tomorrow, post some piccies up

Looks great, only thing I would do is remove the black foam/ material on the under side of the bonnet.

You do all this and then you find water marks all over it fron the moning dew that settles! or the horrid dust that settles from nowhere and spoils your hard work

Thanks you can knock years off a car with a good clean I reckon. I'm going to get the clay out when the missis falls asleep

Good effort,
I use AG products , and find that I get a good finish from them , without silly prices.

I may claybar my car next year , and purchase a jet wash with a snow foam gun.

I also use AG, vinyl rubber care in the engine bay , easy to use and no marks left.

Keep up the goos work , and that pint is well earned.

Yep AG is awesome, I flit between AG and Megs as I like both and feel they compliment each other quite well - both have weak links and strong ones. AG wheel cleaner is not up to much so I tried Hot Rims this time and it's pretty good.

I keep meaning to get a snow foam lance too, although I've heard snow is pretty much useless it still looks like fun

I use vinyl (knew I'd spelt that wrong lol) care on loadsa stuff it's awesome!

I really dont see the point in snow foam either, it's just a lot of product thats not actualy touching the car plus from what i've been hearing at shows were going to be going the same way as europe so you want even use one unless you can collect the water and stop it from going down the drain with surface water

Cheers and no it's not my handywork - although I hand shoveled every bit of the top soil from a huge mound to both front and back gardens with grandad when he built the house. Was back breaking!

Looks real plush mate!! Question, what do you use to clean u your engine, have noticed on some of my steal pipes they appear to have like limescale on them, much like you get on the element inside a kettle. Whats the best way to clean them up?

Alloy wheel cleaner works a treat, i also use it on the exhaust tip to remove any buildup

Lettuce, what he said. Try different things until you find what removes that particular grime on whatever particular bit.
Use common sense though, don't go putting stuff on bits that wont like it for example, I keep the AG vinyl & rubber care away from the belts as it's silicone based and may cause adverse affects like slippage. Don't know for sure but wont find out either

Watch your fingers too - lots of sharp bits I cut my hands on...
