Default New bus .. wagon number two !

Saw 53WRX the other night and realised I'm falling behind the times. One car just isn't enough, so I bought a second one ! Picked this minter up during the week..:

97k, UK car, few owners, last one had it for 5 years and has just emigrated. Car (was) standard bar an Alpine HU and the backbox (old one rusted through) which gives it a very different sound to my green one !

Gave it a wash the other night, not bad results for a wash and a clay and one coat of wax I'll get it machined properly at some point but I do love how easy silver looks good after a spate of dark cars

Had a little swap over session this morning.... lights and wheel results are as follows:

.. the plate which will go on in a month or so at renewal time ..:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/evil_giraffes_rule/5893410039/http://www.flickr.com/photos/evil_giraffes_rule/5893410039/ by http://www.flickr.com/people/evil_giraffes_rule/, on Flickr

I'll do the Brembos, H&S full exhaust and the radio another day ! Only other plan for the foreseeable future is to get it lowered as it sits like a, err... 4x4

Time for a brew

/TEG

Cleaned the interior this evening too.. and swapped the boot carpet out for the old bus as the Dyson couldn't even begin to resolve the dog hair/mess that was on/in the original one ! :dead: Umbrella (and warning triangle, and emergency window hammer/seatbelt cutter) came as free optional extras

Rails and mirror covers also come up a treat with some SRP (little tip from 53WRX).

Next up, throw the sub in the boot and see what happens with the crappy headunit which is half hardwired into the power under the dash FFS

Removed this abortion from the dashboard this evening

Power had been taken from the ignition for some reason.. (but done properly as it was cable tied along the way, and fused too!!) swapped the two looms from my green bus, and have now got a fully functioning Alpine unit, as the factory intended without a single spliced wire anywhere

Not sure I can use that loom again, and is a different connector at the HU between the two Alpine units .. Think I'll source a new radio loom and stick one of my spare units in to sell the green bus

Next up the sub. Tune in at the weekend to see how badly that goes

You make the clay treatment sound like a quick job?! Is it? Toying with giving my wagon the clay treatment too but not too sure how to go about it...

Depends on the state of your paint .. took me probably an hour but didnt really notice the time

Keep the paint wet - quick detailer, or shampoo/water in a spray bottle. Just let it glide about and make sure nothing gets scraped about on the clay as it'll mark the paint.

Wash, clay, wash, paint cleanser, polish, glaze, wax.... if you're being OCD/OTT

It's easy really

I've used this stuff for years: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/zaino/.../prod_477.html

but latest results were with: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-59419-bi...clay-soft.aspx .. the bonus with that one, is it's so soft they say water is all you need as a lube ! Hose the car off after a wash but keep it nearby to keep the surface you're working on wet if you havent got a spare spray bottle, and go wild !

Well... yeah I'd be inclined to agree

Was bored last night, so popped the trim off the LHS and ran the wiring kit for my cheap Fli sub into the boot/battery. Went ridiculously well for someone who doesn't like electrics

Just bought a couple of bits from ScoobyParts on 53WRXs recommendation !

Air filter (Green cotton panel) and ARBs front and rear

Thanks Tim (if you're on here ?!)

Exhaust came off the green bus at the weekend.. currently sitting in my garage, so I thought I'd give this a go:

Pretty much straight off the camera...

Thought I'd update this for anyone interested...

Haven't done too much in the last few months apart from use it as it was intended

Had the bikes on the Thule a few times, boot filled with rubbish, and it's all swallowed with ease

Machine polished it a couple of weekends ago... no before's (/noob) but here's some afters ! Hasn't come up too bad for a 100k silver car.

Gave it a quick oil service as it was due .. and also whipped the old wheels down to the powedercoaters (JP Polishing in Canvey, Essex)

Old wheels:

Boot filled up again:

JP put my new winter tyres from Black Circles (Hancook W310) on, then I stuck on and a couple of coats of PB wheel sealant on before they get salty....:

Ha yeah.. Most of the last lot were just the 15-85mm kit lens, but some of the above are with my favouritest lens, Sigma 10-20 which one of my friends has at the moment on his honeymoon.
