Loads of carbon vinyl wrap at SSO today
Everywhere we looked someone somewhere had Carbon wrap on there car And some looked quite good.
Thinking of wrapping my bonnet is this applied with a heat gun and can it be peeled off if not wanted anymore without damaging the paintwork ?

be careful what vinyl you buy as some is 1220 wide and some 1525mm wide, if u want it one piece check you bonnet size and then what width you are being sold
plus the vinyl needs to be a cast vinyl not just for flat surfaces, the 3m stuff is meant to be used after applying a liquid adhesive to prevent lift from tight bends, receses.

Get the bubble free type as its alot easer and no need for liquids. Its abit dearer but loadz better, people go mad for the 3M type but i think its rubbish and alot harder to fit but each to there own.
Ive done many parts and it is really easy even with no experience, Just go for it.
Good luck!

How is it installed then ? Being a total novice to this, I was very impressed with the roofs, bonnets and splitters I saw on Sunday looked really good and couldn't really tell between the 3m type or the bubble free stuff you mentioned.
Is it applied dry or wet ?
With a heat gun ?
An explanation of the correct preperation method and install would be great .

I fitted a mates WR1 roof with the 3M stuff on my own, totally dry and not heat gun, its very good stuff but very expensive
I have wrapped my front grille in it and its lifting in the extreme folds.
I have extensive vinyl samples from other manufactures and the latest vinyls from William smith, 10.900 cast carbon is about £36 per lin metre and 1.5 metre width, they do a normal vinyl with air channel in the back but not meant for serious curves.

The stuff i use is bubble free so when you are laying it the bubbles kinda just go which helps loads. You use the heat gun for parts where you need to curve the vinyl under or around (only a little heat you will kind of see when doin it). It sticks to paint very well but if you decide to do inteior parts some will need painting before hand so that it sticks well and dont come off.
Buy some bubble free about £45 for 1.2m x1.2m a heat gun or the wifes / moms hair dryer and do it some where like a garage so no bits blow on to the bonnet or the vinyl as its a joke to get them off again.
Or have a go on something little like your fuel cover just to get the idea of how the material works. Its amazing stuff.
Also look at some videos on you tube theres loads.
