No the EVO pics didn't end well. But I don't want to post them on here for obvious reasons.

It needs to be fully road legal including insurance - that's the tricky bit as pretty much nobody insurers car there now. Although you can do closed track days when non road legal cars are allowed. A friend runs these days if you ever fancy doing one.

Any new advice regarding insurance is always welcome, we know its a tricky one. Also, whats the deal with Sprintstrecke? The opening times list this as well as normal Nordschleife touristfahrten on 28th May. Is this the link onto the GP circuit being open?
And cracking photos too, really like the ones from Hatzenbach Squeeky bottom moment for the silver Porsche too, looks like Brunchen?

There's a group on www.southeastscoobies.co.uk going out at the end of May (Skullfudge is part of our group). This will be the clubs 3rd year in a row, can't wait

With regards to insurance if you can find any insurer who will insure you to drive the NS on a normal yearly policy than please let me know. The last one I was aware of shut its doors at the end of last year. I say the last one, there are a couple of specialists who cover porsche and lotus, but this is very much a closed door club.
I would suggest that the vast majority of UK visitors have no insurance and fly by the seat of their pants. That's fine until you are involved in an incident where a 3rd party is killed or there is a big loss. Then you're in serious trouble.

Gary, can you email the pic with the squirrel running across the track, would make a canny desk top. My email address is in my profile.
Great pics BTW.

Crashing the car isn't what the insurers worry about, it's the personal injury aspect, as you don't sign any disclaimer like you would on a UK track.
Apparently the crash that was on a few of the forums last year where the M5 dumped its brake fluid has already cost the insurer £250,000 in PI and legal fees. (not sure if that figure included track closure/air ambulance etc...)

It's rare that they join both tracks together, although they did so on Eater Monday. Sprintstrecke will more than likely be that the GP circuit is open as a seperate entity. It's a new thing. From memory it's 38 euros for 15 or 20 mins of track time. Tickets are seperate from those purchased to drive the Nordschleife.
If its a proper track day, 38 euros isn't bad for a chance to drive another circuit

Thanks for the info - very interesting. If the GP circuit is opened separately, does it count like a normal track day taster session? Or do public road/touristfahrten rules still apply?

A friend runs these days and insurance is not required, nor do the cars need to be road legal.
