got rid of wing reflectors
hi guys,
last weekend i decided to get rid of my front wing reflectors and i was gonna do it outside my house.
first was getting rid of the reflectors
then it was time to get some metal to fill in the holes,
i went up to my brother in laws garage and used his equiptment cos i was gonna weld the plates in but he suggested that i use silkaflex glue(its what they put your windscreens in with) so i thought why not
it worked a treat and it only took an hour to set completly.
then it was time to get some filler in
then of course the rubbing down
after that was done it was time for some filler primer to fill in the fine holes
then it was time for the normal primer
then a week went by and it was time for the final rub down and getting it ready for the paint(which i had mixed at halfords)
and of course the clear laquer. i left it over night then attacked it the next morning with some 2500 grit wet/dry and gave it a polish with my DAS6 polisher, then i cleaned the whole car and gave the whole car a going over with the polisher using meguiars paint cleaner and finished off with Autoglym ultra deep shine (gonna change the autoglym though cos it leaves loads of white residue)
its not quite finished yet it still needs another rub down and probably another coat of laquer but its ok for now

Looks familiar
I had mine welded as I was worried that a bonded plate would crack, it's happed to me before when I dehandled my last car
Looking very tidy, can't wait to get mine fitted.

I got someone else to do my welding as it's 12 years since I last welded anything, but I cut the plates and filled it all myself. It's not like riveting plates onto airframes though, that's more of an art than car bodywork - it's only 10 years since my last attempt at aircraft battle damage repair
