Aye, not been able to clay a car since I had the 205GTi. Got a new Megs one in a big order from Polished Bliss other day. Just awaiting a clear day to clean the Merc and I'll be ***** deep in claybaring

I'd say a proper go with the clay will take you 10 mins a panel.

Looks great! Would be good to see the scooby once you've done it.

I've got a clay kit lying about that I bought ages ago and just never got round to using. Will get my car done with it next weekend if I get the chance.

why half an hour to do a bonnet??

All you need to do is spray on the liquid then go over the surface with the clay bar, you don't even need to rub hard, you just go in one direction.

So easy to do.

hardest bit was re washing the car to get the sediment residew off the car, dry off then polish it up.

I was a bit tight on time too as had to pick Jo up from hairdressers lol
so waxing was done with this...

easy to apply, you wax a panel, then polish it off.

I did mine the other week. From the threads I had read on here, I got the impression there was some big mystery science to it! But it really is a 'piece of cake'! You're right the the hardest bit is washing off all the residue once clayed!
I got the auto glym kit from halfords really good, & the car looks mint now!

washed the missus focus and my scoob last night and spent the last 5 hours clay bar and waxing - first time this year the weekend has been all sunny lol

i should have used the cleaning fluid after claying but couldnt be arsed!!! just sprayed quick details over and microfibre wiped off then applied wax.

i use swissvax products i have found that although they are more expensive then other brands they are much easier to apply and remove and everything is non acidic and non abrasive.

I'm sure some neighbours were giving me weird looks as I was applying the wax with my hand to the cars!!!!

I used the crystal rock wax then a layer of the shield wax to my hatch, the shield wax has PTFE properties which is great for everyday use cars - insects were landing then sliding off the bodywork, so funny watching them struggling to get grip

just used the shield wax then dodo juice red mist on the wife's focus!!!!

probably rain 2moro and 2 minutes down the road will look just like they did before i started lol

I guess it dpends on how contaminated the car is, the car you've done is fairly new by the loks of it.

Only car I ever did was my evo 6 (white) and it took hours, because you can see (when up close) all the tiny bits of tar on a white car. It deffinately wasn't a case of quickly wiping over a panel, sure I could have done that and it certainly felt smooth after 1 go but to get every bit off took ages.

On a side note, can you get these 'proshine' style sprays off the shelf at halfords? Or is there another similar spray like this availale there? I want something like this myself, and like you I'd always wash the car first but these sprays just look easier to apply and polish off than traditional stuff.

Yep, that's how it went for me. I suppose if you get a decent wax on there at least you can prevent a lot of the contamination again.

I wouldn't go near anyones car with that Proshine crap. How the hell can you lift off dirt and grime by spraying a thin liquid stuff onto it and use a cloth to wipe it off. It's physically impossible not to damage your paint. Using a sponge is bad enough (unless you have snow foamed etc previously and plan to do correction polishing afterwards), never mind a cloth which will be dirty in seconds.

Nah, I'll spend a bit of time washing properly with the 2BM and not rip £1000s of paint with crap like that

thing is it does work, but with a badly soiled car, i wouldn't want to try it. You also use a lot of spray to move the dirt lol

i wash first.

the stuff is very good as a car wax spray, its easy to put on and then buff off, with great results. brill att shows too as you don't get lots of powder over plastic trim etc.
I'm looking at buying another 1litre bottle this week, as it makes for easy car waxing when you're short on time. My wifes car looks great today too.

I've also Clay bar'd the scoob late this afternoon, then washed off the residue after,
Only took 30mins to clay the scoob, with it being in a good state.. being almost new.. there wasn't a lot to come off it, but it's still brought the paint work like glass.

dried off then quick waxed the car up using DEMON SHINE spray. As I was loosing the day light the DemonShine has just added a lovely gloss back to the paint work, with out the need for a main wax. Pleased with the results again.

gave the engine a clean too... as hate that spay wax the dealers leave on, over time I'll get more and more of it off. a quick snow foam and jet.. then did a spray of silicone to keep it all fresh looking.

I agree, I'm only interested in it to use as a quick spray on after washing as I hate the traditional method.

Salsa, is that Demon shine not the same?

Maybe I'll get some of that proshine stuff.

I have seen something similar on the shopping channels but it's called showroom shine, probably the same thing though. They demo it on dirty cars and do the enamel thing. And yes I know I'm sad watching these channels but I used to fall asleep to the shopping channel that came on after eurosport (iirc) when I was a kid and they are strangely comforting to me! My mrs thinks I'm mad and I've never bought anything from them either.

lol
£6.99 @ Halfords.. get some too.. (as well as the ProShine)

http://www.carplan.co.uk/index.cfm?page=60
DemonShine its quick a top gloss... sprays on a pink/clear liquid. you then wipe on till it drys as you polish it over the surface... even easier than the proShine.
At Trax, I use it just to get the shine back on the car after the drive down

I got some of that waterless wash & wax from an outlet. Was only £5, smaller bottle that Phils ProShine but enough to do the car 3 times.
I'd never use it on a proper dirty car, but to clean off dust that a rain shower has left, or f&*&ing cat paw prints it's so much quicker and easier to do a spot clean with that stuff.

For anyone thats trying to remove tar spots with a clay bar - DONT BOTHER!

Get some Tardis - spray and wipe one panel at a time. I swear you will never attempt any other method.

You can then use the clay bar afterwards and it'll be much easier.

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...rdis-cat6.html

I did our white DC5 last summer and the tar was literally running off the car when you sprayed it on

what ^ said - tardis is great stuff, i use it & it works wonders.

as for clay, i really like the Bilt Hamber, works with just water & you get a lot of bar for your money.
