6 Months in
I've had the car for six months now, and pretty much feel I've got the car looking how I want it. The aim was to be understated, with a few details beyond the original look, though I'm not sure that's completely possible when the car is this colour but I've tried.
The top picture is just after I got the car, the bottom is pots of clay, most other polishes available later and more money poured in here and there than I anticipated during six months, a lot of which is not visible

I like that a lot. Wheels and splitter give it a great but subtle presence, not convinced about the red but it does add something different. Would you go lower with some Prodrive springs for example? With the wheels and splitter it would look very good.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. Yes, I'm thinking about lowering the car as a by product of fitting a set of coil-overs but find myself slightly concerned that I'll end up rubbing the front end on something immovable. Especially in light of the recent posts on SNet, clearly illustrating the results of such contacts.
I agree the red around the grilles is not everyone's cup of tea, but I kind of like the way that shade of red accentuates the vibrancy of the blue, I started of with just the middle grill and then decided I might as well do the whole set. It's the first car I've owned where I've felt compelled to make adjustments to the exterior appearance, and it has to be said that using this place does help a fair bit when trying to decide what looks totally naff or otherwise.
To be honest I find it reassuring that a number of people can find things on the car they'd avoid if were their car, especially as no one has suggested I go stalk in the fast food outlet car par parks. I've kind of reached that point in life where I can happily within reason have a twist of individuality without worrying. However I do find the feedback very useful and always appreciate knowing the perceptions of others.
And as has become fairly obvious in the short time I've been a member here, new ideas come along and the previously sought after look can very soon become the way car looked before a new set of ideas cropped up. I guess it's all part of being enthusiastic about owning the cars, that compulsion to constantly fix something that's not actually broken.
Many thanks
Tim

Thanks again for the comments. Yes, I have to agree that maybe the risk and taking steps to avoid objects is worth it now I have tinkered with the picture and dropped the ride height. Mmm looks like the wallet is going to get all stressed again lol.

Thanks, Very much appreciated, looks like lowering is the next step. Just done the brake fluid this aft with one of those non return valve bleed pipes, the best 3 quid I've ever spent. I'm actually surprised how much the fluid change has firmed the feel of the brakes.
So now, Coil-overs on the top of my list, followed by rear rotors and pads, followed by a bigger top mount and turbo, followed by another map and so on lol, not cheap this car hobby.........
Loving it though

My suggestion of lowering or coilovers doesnt neccesarily need to blow a hole in your pocket. So on subject im trialing some Raceland coilovers on my 2002 STI. They are 2 or 3 times cheaper than other mid-leading brands, but this might be comprimised in the quality, but I hope not. Mine are being installed this week along with some other power modifications, so I will be leaving feedback once set up. You can find a link here buddy if you fancy considering it.... Nothing in it for me btw.

Cheers Rob, I'll keep a keen eye on how you get on. I'm starting to worry what I'm going to do when I get the car finished lol. I have pondered that scenario and it's not good as I'll end up buying a shagged out one to tinker with while having the finished one to drive.
Mmm these cars get a bit addictive.
all the best

I'm going to put rear corner lips on the back which are very much in keeping with the front lip, trouble is I can only find plastic ones so they'll have to do.

Fair play mate, they're not to everyone's taste and maybe I'll get tired of them in due course and strip the grilles out and replace them with carbon ones, but for now they stay and to be fair that picture in that light makes them leap out of the front end
