Impreza Newbie- & pics of my previous rides
Hi guys.. couldn't find anywhere to post a hello thread so thought I'd take the chance to introduce myself here.
My name's Tom and I'm from Peterborough.
Up until 6 months ago I ran a Vauxhall Vectra enthusiast car club but now handed it over to a friend as I dont have the time anymore.
Over the last 8 years, all I've owned is Vauxhalls (Bar 1 which was a MK4 Golf GTi T).
A few days ago I bought my 1st Impreza. Here's the only photo I have of it at the moment:
Pretty much standard apart from the exhaust system which is stupidly loud.
At least, it WAS! I owned the car half a day and I've done a piston/ bottom end (according to a friend). Main reason I'm here really is to seek some advice as to what costs I'm looking at for a rebuild of my engine, or a recon supply & fit jobby.
I was very pleased with the performance of the impreza in the short time I got to drive it, so want it back up & running better than it was, and as soon as possible.
Anyway, will stop rambling now, and leave you with some pics of my previous cars....
Sold about a week ago... 2.6 V6 Vectra GSi (1 of only 500 made):
Golf MK4 GTi Turbo (Only had this about a month then sold it as they're too slow):
2.6 Vectra V6 SRi (I owned this for about 2 years and done everything to it myself.. was a fantastic car and pics dont really do it justice):
See you all around

Some very nice cars, I had a vauxhall V6 before the scooby, and do miss the pull sometimes, but then I hit boost and despite the Cav being tweeked the noise from the current car is unbeatable

Welcome matey.
I almost feel embarrassed , that after a few hrs of Subaru ownership and you need a rebuild.
These cars can be fantastic and very reliable but the early imports do have a reputation for engine failure. Good luck.

Yeh know what you mean Bob... It has been quite off-puting really.. first day of ownership and it pops. To be honest, I'm going to be forever scared to give it stick just incase it does it again as I really don't know what they can take. My V6 Vectras took everything I could throw at them and never once gave me any mechanical problems.
The thing is- I'm currently in the process of setting up a new business (Car detailing), so dont really have money to throw at the car at the moment. I guess I'll need to take it easy for a bit when it's back on the road.
Oh well.. it's certainly introduced me to the wonders of jap cars.
