Default smoothed the front end a bit

Since fitting the front mount i thought i'd make things a bit more aerodynamic

i originally said i wasnt going to facelift it but couldnt resist in the end

more aerodynamic, probably not. the vents were there for a reason infact less efficient is probably what youve made it, all that warm air has nowhere to go now

ok so the small vents are blanked from factory as they let water in if left open, the main scoop is only there to feed air to the top mount which isnt there anymore and a small trumpet to the turbo (which is wrapped on mine) so how have i made it less efficient????

so a smooth bonnet is less aerodynamic than one with a big scoop in it dragging air in and around it?

Exactly the air vents have no function at all as they are blanked off!

Aesthetically I like it but I have left my scoop to aid cooling, turbo, gearbox, FMIC piping off the inlet, take your pick. No way a criticism but makes me feel better knowing there is maximum airflow. Also being a sports bonnet that's probably no heavier than the standard steel wagon bonnet.

Reverse scoops look good and allow air back out, just a suggestion

I like it...looks very clean.

Not sure if loosing the scoop will make a huge difference to cooling except when the car is stationary and hot air can escape from the scoop. I guess there will be some additional cooling with the scoop in place whilst in motion as it will probably draw hot air out of the bay and down the transmission tunnel. Probably only a negligible increase (if any), but you'd need to measure the under bonnet temps before and after the bonnet change to be sure.

I'd quite like a sport bonnet for mine, but my oil cooler is under the scoop......

more aerodynamic, so what , what on earth are you going to gain weather you have a scoop or not you will notice no difference what so ever and now it looks like a sport, put your other bonnet back on and dont waist you money.

I dont know......i think the impreza looks a bit strange without the bonnet vent.

Then again a few years back the rear spoilerless look seemed strange....but somehow grew on the impreza massive.

im running one of the RB motorsports twin temp sensors.

on normal driving i have not really noticed any difference over the charge temp with this bonnet or my seibon CW (loadsa vents in it) bonnet.

i normally get a + 6 to 7 deg c charge temp over ambemt temp.

i have got a set of bonnet raisers here i got when i first fitted the bonnet incase of temp problems, but have never fitted them as didnt feel the need

conclusive results rather than assumption, nice one

although it would be interesting to see how that small increase in charge temp actually effects power\det etc; not sure if it would cause an exponential or linear decrease in power, increase in det...you'd need someone brighter than me to work that out

also i wonder what the difference is with a tmic on charge temp.

Harvey Smith is the one we need to talk about this, i think he has done alot of research on it

When mines running i'll be logging the charge and ambient temps so may swap my vented non-scoop bonnet for a few runs to see what the difference is...I guess i'd need to borrow an OE bonnet to make it a worthwhile exercise though...
