Default my97 classic

hi all, thougth i would make like a little progress thread to see what you guys think of my half a scooby, pretty much call it a half a scooby due to it being non-tubro

its a 1997 2.0 4wd Subaru Impreza non turbo swapped my old 106 Quicksilver (which was ****ed) for it stright swap (cant complain)

only down fall of the car is that it was listed as a total loss a few years back but has been fixed and checked and is now back on the road (guessing the pervious owner had all the work done)

its done 86,000k and seem to be in good working order tbh, the other bad point is that 1hour after i brought the car a few months back i reversed it into a tree where i wasn't used to the size different due to all my cars b4 being saxo vtr, saxo vts, 106 quicksilver etc lol so there is a dent in the boot nothing major tho n hoping to get fixed soon!!

its got a full system (not sure on make) and the Sti wheels i belive apart from that seems pretty standard!! think the front sits abit high not sure if thats normall or not

anyway enough of talking lol heres a few piccys tell me what you think

Looks pretty clean. Buy a turbo version, you won't regret it.

Hi all cheers for all your comments little bit of a update for you on the scooby doo finally decided to get some new rubber fitted yesterday lol after finally managing to remove the locking wheel nuts without the key!

And today i decided to treat the car too some new brakes i had them sitting around for a while now just never got round to fitting them so 2day i gave it ago, thought it was goin to be a right bitch considering the age of the car n how rusty bits are, but luckily all went pretty smoothly.............. well thats untill i went to put it all back togeather!!

Anyway first part of the attack of course was to remove the wheels and brake caliper pretty simple and easy no real problems there, managed to do both sides pretty easily and got the new brake disks etc on, cleaned up the bolts and put some copper grease on them and all was good to re-fit!

The Passanger side went on fine no problems at all!! but the drivers side not so easy! and i was putting the top bolt back in the caliper that holds it to the suspension hub it started to go stiff so i took it back out n had alook n looked like it was trying to cut a new thread in the caliper so cleaned it all up n had another go...........still doing it, so i thought well lets see what happens if i kept going......n it went it just took abit of force so im guessing its threaded itself or something anyway it managed to go in and locked the caliper tight to the hub like it should and managed to tourqe it up to around 105nm (duno if that is the right tourqe just went by a manual of my old car if any1 knows the proper tourqe setting plz let me know)

So hopefully that holds untill i get myself some new calipers

so anyway all was re-fitted then i decided to whip out some caliper paint just to try and make them look abit better.......also while i was there i decided to do the same with my back drum brakes just to get rid of the rust n make look abit nicer to the eye!!

also when painting my passanger side caliper i noticed a little chip in my brake disk is this anything to worry about?

Comments welcome i know i have babbled on abit lol but i like a good progress hahaha

Pretty Big Update now!!

Thanks to my wonderfull other half as a birthday present she brought me some new wheels, and indicator lense (to finally get rid of them blue ones) and also she is ordering me some Lowering Springs and maybe a Borla Manifold...........treats

Got the wheels and indicators of FastMike for a bargin tbh of £100 the tryes are nealry brand new couldnt of got a better deal tbh!!

so today i got round to fitting them on and the car looks so much better now!!

Also while i was out there i got the wire brush out and some rust protection and decided to clean the rear arm where the diff sits and paint it up (tbh i didnt do a great job but will do, who looks underneath anyway)

Also anyone know were this my diff is leaking from it looks to be around were it bolts to the chassis or from the top sumwere?? also were do i get the seals from so i can fix it?

also duno if you can notice the boot i picked up from FastMike the other week is a very slight different shade of green prob have to get that re-sprayed

Comment welcome!!
