my first scooby
evening all, just thought i would fire up some pics of my uk scooby, got it yesterday after selling my 1994 m3, not been far with it but loving it so far, not as quick as the m3 but sounds amazing! done 115k miles, almost fsh (missed out 60k service) mostly done by andersons in aberdeen to start with and a few from AWD in perth then some from Dicksons Of Dunblane, have a folder full of reciepts including a replacement engine in 2003 by AWD, previous owner said it was a wrx engine fitted but i have no idea, anyway, enough waffling, lets get on with the pics

also got some questions i hope someone can help with
1) engine is seemingly from a wrx, how do i tell the diff between wrx and uk spec? have engine number on receipt if thats any help
2) it has defi gauges fitted but not wired up right, light up fine but needles dont move, have boost, rpm and water temp, boost i can fix but what wires do i attach the rpm and water temp to? just need the green wires wired up, am i right in thinking its b5 on the dash wiring for rpm and b14 for water temp?

dont think they are defi ones, there autogauge ones from ebay, PH add said defi gauges but says autogauge on them, no control unit with them, just a few wires for illumination and a green wire still to be connected

other than getting it on the rollers is there anyway of telling what engine it is? m3 was around 280 and previous to that i had an evo 2 running around 260 but the scooby dont feel as quick as they did, maybe i just drove it like a ***** on the way home with it lol just doesnt seem to boost very hard, will need to get boost gauge plumbed in to see what its at, whats standard boost anyway?

Got to be honest Jamie...I don't know what's the standard boost but if you do a search on here I'm sure it's been covered a hundred times before. It can be hard to tell what engine you have especially if it has been changed from standard.
There are differences to look out for that can help you for starters...does it have a black slanty top mount intercooler or a silver straight top mount intercooler? Coil packs or one distributor block? what turbo is on the engine? It should be a TD05 I believe. Maybe some others will help out and suggest some more ways of spotting what engine you have.
Some Impreza owners have found that they actually have Legacy engine's in there Impreza's .
Edit: Also does it have a red manifold or silver?
Also found this on engine codes(not sure if these codes will be visible on the block though);

Think what Tony was saying was that they are the same engine, just the WRX ECU is programmed differently?
