When I had them fitted the guy told me he would only fit 'legal' tints i.e 30% (lets 70% light through). I wanted them slightly darker at the time, but the guy made a big thing about it and said he would get in trouble if I got caught . However my brother got stopped a few months back (he has the same tints) by Mr Plod who happened to have a measuring device of some kind. He had to remove his fronts at the roadside (it was borderline I think tho but I wasn't there). I prefer the same tint all the way round, others prefer the backs to be darker.
The short answer is I don't know the grade now .

[QUOTE]no tints are going to be legal on the front. [QUOTE]
Just to clarify, when I said fronts (plural i.e. meaning more than one) I was refering to the front driver and passenger windows not the windscreen. My front windscreen isn't tinted which seems to be suggested below . Sorry if I've misread your post.

i was'nt suggesting your windsreen was tinted that would definatly not be legal. there is already a slight tint on the factory supplied glass and anything else put on top even light tint would not be legal and fail a test, this only goes for the front windows the rears can be tinted as much as you like

reason why people wont do the fronts, is because believe it or not the standard glass is already 10-20% tinted (that green ish colour) so when u add another 30% or even 20% tint its goes beyond the allowed 20% and plod tells you to take them off...
